Episode 8 at least, I'm not sure about episode 7, had a check for modded saves where it would wipe your saves and close the game. Didn't take long for the modders to circumvent it, though, I think less than a day.

I use his mod, not sure if my saves would work without it. Let's me go after every LI, so I'll wait for it to update.
