The discord has perodic updates. Basically Newman is working on the game when he is between other projects and personal drama. There is progress and there might be a new version by the end of summer / early fall.

At this point people aren't gonna believe it until they see it.
It will take a update to the game in order to get the "Abandoned" tag removed according to the rules here.

This game is already abandoned, it cannot be that in 3 years there has not been any update and there are still those who swallow his update nonsense, the thing is simple as long as there are fools willing to swallow his nonsense and continue giving him money for nothing, he will not stop to deceive them.
Playing devil's advocate here, but with the state of the economy these days as well as rising prices, people are more focused on being able to pay their bills and get food. The fact that there's activity on the discord is some small hope. But honestly, i would not be suprised if the game gets completely dropped.

Judging by the progress bar they continue to update I guess a new release is near, at least by the end of this year but probably way before that. BTW has the team done anything to be considered not trustful? I see the situation more like an AKAMAN type thing, he's working on it and when it's done it's out, unless I forget something.
At this point game won't be finished before author dies so, yeah.

this would've been nice game. most of the engine is already in place, only content is missing. a pity.

It's been 10 years since the game started and it's not even a third of the way through, it's more than obvious that he's just using it as an excuse to continue taking money from fools.
