Hey everyone!
Hope you're doing great and having a good time! It's time for another Between Humanity development log
I'm still working daily on the new update, mostly on the weekends though. I'm now at roughly 1020 renders and slowly approaching the finish line. I'll probably finish the 5th scene this week, then I'll fully focus on the 6th scene and afterwards implement the little extra part I mentioned a couple of development logs ago.
I'm not someone who likes to brag about the things I create, but I really like the current scene I'm still working on. Initially, when I wrote this scene, I had a rather boring conversation in mind, but it turned out to be quite… spicy. I did rewrite it to be more spicy of course. For me, that's a great thing. I'm learning more about writing and rendering while working on the game. The scene and the situation itself still fit perfectly and aren't over the top. It makes sense for it to happen, and that's something I really want for my game. Of course, everything I'm saying here is just my personal opinion, and you might totally not like it in the end
On top of that, as some of you might know, I'm a bit of a coding ~~wh*re~~ enthusiast. I rewrote my choices functionality in Ren'Py. It's now more performant, since I removed the temporary variable storage that would accumulate a lot of additional variables over the duration of the game and slowly become more and more performance-unfriendly over time. It's also much more usable for me as a developer. I like it so far. It will break everything right now, since I fully rewrote classes that are stored in each savegame, but I'll fix that. In theory it should already work, I just can't test it yet because the game won't start in its current state. *LOL*. Don't worry, I'll fix that as well!
I'll finish the current scene, then focus on the final pieces, fix the game in its entirety, and release it. Goal set, I just need a bit more time to fulfill it.
Anyway guys, have a great weekend. Stay warm or cold, depending on where you live, and feel free to drop any questions, feedback, or suggestions you have in the respective channels!
PS: Next weekend will be another batch of sneak peeks!
With love,
Panda
