Ok i must be a complete idiot cause im stuck at start of game its tells me in walkthru to get maxes authority up to do mentor yet both girls are at 0 and only thing i have found to raise that on lisa is to buy her robe and that only takes it to 20. getting her spanked for not doing good in school and for alice caught smoking does not raise my authority at all. what am i doing wrong

That seems logical. He often renders pictures of the girls naked and then add's clothing in an overlay, that's also where the "preview" pictures of Lisa reading or sleeping naked come from. That's just the base picture without the different pieces of clothing she can wear in that scene.
