There is new stuff (like movie night or Alice's attempted punishment), but it builds up on the original premisse. This is NOT the original + some other stuff, but rather a variation of it. It starts of with the same elements, then changes most events. A strong focus is on variation of the repeatable content and on a more natural relationship progress. It's definitly more elaborated.
Some elements like Olivia's boyfriend are missing completely, but then we have Kira's coworker, who shows up.
But ... the game is definitly not focused on Eric. If you stay on War path you will hardly notice Eric. The plan is, that if you stay friends with him, there will be more content with him and the girls, but the game is not there yet.
As mentioned by dwalsh before, the Ren'Py remake of the original might be, what you are looking for. They took fan art for the original to create a separated Eric storyline.

I might take a look. yesterday evening I started "Syberia - The world before" however. When I'm not playing porn games, I play on of my 1600 GOG games . My pile of shame is higher than the Everest.
... and I just remembered I still need to finish the second season of Being a DIK. The first one was great, "Hell week" was just hillarious.

I'm glad that Aleksey at least tries to bring in some adventure elements like item handling into this game, but of course Ren'Py is not the best engine when it comes to task oriented game play (there are specialized adventure engines for that) so I don't expect miracles.

Even in so called sandbox games repetition isn't necessary, it just gives the illusion of doing something while waiting for the next update. Of course people also want some stuff to be repeatable, espesiclly the lewd stuff ('how can I unlock the gallery?'), but it's not a prequisite.

MotH started with stats first, then got completely changed to a pure event based game. Yes, there were progress stars, they inidicated how much many of the events you already had seen, and that unlocked certain actions or other events, so basically it was a 'relationship level'. But there was no stat grinding (except that you had to deliver pizza for money) and no decay.

House Party has stats, but those basically only mean that you can fuck up completely and block your way with a girl. All the content is implemented like in an adventure.

The first AIF games I played were actually text adventures, most of them without any game relevant stats (In 'Moist' you could get the girls horny so they would basically jump you or you could 'convince' them). Since there were no images to render, all development time went into story and lewd scenes descriptions.
Those games were much more daring than the modern visual novels, as writer you could get away with everything
Who hasn't played them yet and has a tiny rest of immagination left in his multimedia fileld brain should try them. But be aware, back then no one cared if there's NTR in the game or incest or whatever, no patreons who decided what the next updated was gonna be about. There was just the story. In one guy you play a female spy who uses both skills and body assets to get what she wants. In Sam Shooter the MC was the guy spreading his genes worldwide, but later in the series he got to share his sister with others on several occasions and at some point she would cause a distraction by banging a group of cops.

so I finally found my way into AIF! I'm amazed with the possibilities, and those games are way deeper than 99.9% of F95 games, VN or not.

The only problem is that they're rather short and that there doesn't seem to be a ton of good ones, but I'm hopeful that crawling usenet will yield some more.

Meteor by GoblinBoy was BY FAR the one I liked the most.
The possibility for exploration, story telling, character depth and mechanics, without the drag of horrible DAZ posing or visual tastes that differ to mine, has me in a fit.
Also it would seem that scenes are way cheaper to implement than for games with 2D art, though you still need stellar writing. But again, once you get good at it, you can probably crank out endless scenes with endless variations.
The possibilities are just endless :O

Most are, yes. No one said that designing a adventure was easy I tried once to write an extension to Windy Lake, but my english was so rough, it turned out to be complete shit.
Meteor I didn't try yet, thanks for the tip. The Sam Shooter series isn't bad either.

They are all based on the writing skill of a person which makes it difficult to reach a international community, espescially for our many russian speaking contributors. Back then it was clear that one has to be able to read english in order to play.

These days it's all about "when fuck mom!" and more scenes and animations. When devs like Alexey or SuperAlex focus more on the narrative aspect of a game, they get crucified for it, which is sad. Picking up a established franchise like BB might add to that aspect either, of course.
Among the "modern" games, I think BBAS is one of the better ones. It's not just a collection of sex scenes.

But really ... Ann and to a certain extend also Lisa need a overhaul (I do not mean more sex scenes, even if I don't mind these). No main character should ever be as dumb or uncharismatic as Ann is. You can have a more intellectual conversation with the fungus that started to grow on a half empty cup of yoghurt standing in a broken fridge for months.

In my case that was the case after Ann already knew about Olivia, but I don't think that's a requirement.

They talk about how often Max is applying lotion to Alice when she is tanning.
So my best guess is, that you a) need to have a hight skill level and probably b) need to succeed several times in a row when applying the lotion to Alice and giving her a massage.
If Olivia isn't visiting yet, you might want to check the walkthrough
