A clothing system that literally nobody cares about for one character is not one of those little additions that contribute towards making the game good. In contrast, I fully supported him spending time on improving the opportunities system, since that significantly improved playability. This bullshit cosmetics change, on the other hand, is now the reason why he’s spending a whole extra week on bug fixes since apparently it broke the game. Overengineered software and feature creep contributes more towards a game getting abandoned by its developer than a player base getting bored because of “lack of attention to detail” as you proposed.Good games often have small features or things that players don't necessarily think about.
Recently saw a post somewhere that was a game dev talking about how they slightly altered the way the money displays in the top of the screen (Or something similar, barely remember it) and that it's something the player would never notice either way. But you add all of those little features and additions together, and it becomes a good game.
Would you rather him pump out updates every week with no attention to detail and then the game's abandoned within a year bc all of the player base got bored?
