My trick is that I've been alternating between Olivia and Lisa GF saves with each release so I end up replaying the previous version on the alternate path, and it makes it seem like the content flows better/faster overall. Sadly, since I am on Lisa GF this release, I am out of synch with the .12 Olivia update...

Yes but you can only start doing it at 2200 and 50% chance, 2300 at 70% chance and 2400 at 80% chance.

Then follow like fox told you they must go from save0.save/2/3/4/... That could be issue

Also make sure you copy config.cfg each time if you got maybe any other path to saves assign there. And to get unlimited saves ofcourse (if you set your slots on 900+).

You must fix your config.txt file and change the 100 to what ever you want.

Here is what mind looks like.

maxfiles=900 (this is what I changed to 900 it was 100)
