Think it's to do with where he lives, no artist out there wants to make less money. I'm also willing to bet that his comics aren't his main source of income, but as far as render fidelity goes, he's still one of the best.
I always notice quite a bit of janky renders with all these new render "artists" and he just doesn't have that, and if Daz is what lets him achieve it, then by all means, keep at it.
My one complaint would be his lack of animations, he used to make them years ago, but then he just completely stopped and I feel like those would really improve his comics.
Daz was never built for animating that's why, it was something that was added later on and wasn't really expanded further than just "It's functional", comparing DaZ animation to literally any other animation and DaZ will lose every time.
He sticks with Daz because that's all he knows, he won't put in effort to learn Blender, and not only increase his quality tenfold, but also his production pipeline. Many other artists that started around the same time as him, either started with Daz, or SFM, they eventually put the time in and moved to Blender, and their work and popularity has skyrocketed since. He won't do himself a favour and move with the times.
I mean C'mon, the guy threatened to "retire" a character because she wasn't selling as much as the other girls, like it was some massive effort to put her in scenes, yet doesn't make a peep about monsters that he hasn't used in years.
Daz is his safety net, his bubble, it's all he knows and he won't ever dare step out of that bubble, granted yes, his quality with Daz is really good, better than most other Daz Artists, BUT, and it's a HUGE BUT, his quality won't get any better than what it is now, because it's very obvious that Daz can only do so much, which other Artists realised and made the jump to better and more supported programs, such as Blender.
Jackerman moved to Blender from DaZ.
Nyl moved to Blender from SFM.
These two Artists come to mind as they're also two that I'm active in their communities outside of this site. Amazonium, Futaholic, SFMnewbie, Radroach, Bob_D3D, Rigid3D, Sampples, SageofOsiris, IceDev, Invidia3D, MidnightSFW. Just to name a few, and the list does go on.
ALL started with Daz or SFM in some capacity, and eventually moved onto Blender.
Now compare their early works with BA's, now compare their most recent works with BA's most recent. They have changed, BA hasn't.
BA is fucking lazy and refuses to pull himself out the hole he's dug for himself, and it isn't even that deep of a hole.
