Most likely, duplicate object ID issue. Some object somewhere with identical ID was moved, the key was moved too.
I found and fixed all duplicate ID cases, also correcting a few other minor bugs in the process

How do you grab the basement key? I am pressing E on the key on the table next to the couch but it just interacts with the couch and I can't grab the key...
Edit: Must have been a bug. Started a new game and it worked afterwards.

Was it 0.3 or 0.31? If the former, probably another ID duplicate bug. If 0.31, I will look into it
I placed the zombie meat on the altar before having the quest to do so and I think it's softlocked me, I can't get another

I replaced the system in this quest with the new one, used in Whisperwood Farm.
Instead of A => B chain, the quest system now tracks a list of decisions.
As long as all checkbox are marked, you it doesn't matter in what order you mark them and when you take the quest - it will be completed.
This is unlikely to help your already softlocked game, but should prevent such issues in future

Thanks, is Whisperwood farm a patreon exclusive or something? I started over and went through the story but can't seem to find it, I get to the asylum and that's it

I said I'd give some feedback once insta-text was in; so here I am
... was a bit confused by the ingame option menu not being the same as the main menu option menu.
And that's sorta the impression I had with the game overall; like the stats, who knows what they do; the text you read at bookshelves just sorta in a black void and unclear that you gotta walk away to close it, combat workable but fiddly, solid writing but a bunch of typos, some sprite error somewhere, some dialogues looping, etc.
Everything works but it feels like everything needs more polish.
Most importantly though I found it borderline jarring when I suddenly got a sex scene after the ghost investigation. The game until then just didn't "vibe" porn game at all. Maybe it "automatically" becomes more so after it happens a few more times, but at that point in the story it was more like "this feels completely out of place" ^^#
It's interestingly different but I do feel for me it'd need some sort of tweak to the formula to really work.

Primarily the hit detection; on one hand when using guns and trying to hit body parts, on the other hand also with the short-ranged close combat weapons. But then I also felt that the HP bars (are they even that?) were unreliable. Plus smaller details while you are running around fighting; like the zombie quest not having a counter so you know how far you got, the burn effect being a bit subtle on enemies, and while it's possible to see it also could be easier to see when your spell is recharged (and how much mana it uses).
I feel it also has the issue that shoveling and burning zombies is free, but bullets are not. Naturally this is very hard to judge from just the beginning of the game, but makes me inclined to not shoot anything. ^^
For me it's all on a level where I'd say I could play through the game like this. It's not like anything does not work at all, prevents progressions, or is super-fiddly-needs-five-clicks. It's just these moments; like characters not having some sort of generic line after they've given you a quest but instead you go through that same convo again, etc. Little things that kinda pull you out of it.

Nope, the controversy settled down and they restored indexing for games that don't collect money - neither through purchases nor donations, i.e. don't use Mastercard and Visa services at all, which were the cause of the problem on itch in the first place. In short, if you upload the game as completely free, everything will be fine. Check out the adult tag search results, it's a celebration of life there. I haven't played your game, but it looks like it was made with care. Good luck
