The character isn't original, sure, but the animation (which you're paying for) is his original work, that takes tons of time, knowledge and effort to make, so I don't think its so unreasonable to want compensation for it

If you open the .blend file in a text editor, there's a header at the beginning of the file indicating which version of Blender it was saved in. I just tested Eunie and she opens correctly in 3.0.1.
