Downloaded his VR vids just to run into nothing but black screens. i don't have a special VR headset either. just a cardboard and this app that i use on IOS. does anyone got some ideas?

Buy an Android and get an APK of Deo VR.
Not sure if IOS ever had VR capability, but if they did you would have to pay extra for it and then your phone would automatically tell every IOS phone that you come within a football field of you're watching cartoon porn and probably airdrop them a copy of some of it..

Dammit, I knew I should've downloaded it on my phone when I saw it earlier. I just got my VR headset now just to find out its taken down..

Used Quest 2's are pretty cheap now. Before I upgraded to a 3, I was watching all of Blob's VR videos just fine on the 2!
