Welp, I got around to playing this one because I want to get to playing the Rei game eventually... Assuming it's not a complete crash-fest on my system like KoM was... but I'll deal with that when I get there...

This game in the mean time. Man... I knew Gyu was not the most... organized developer or story teller, but this is a complete cluster-fuck of a game. Really. I have no idea what he was thinking. Progression is all over the place. Characters are fairly nonsensical. There's a bunch of references to KoM that will make ZERO sense unless you actually played KoM, and if you didn't, it'll likely leave you very, very confused. There's even references to KoM IF, apparently making THAT cluster-fuck as canon, with the Virgin ending somehow being canon even if from what I've seen, that makes ZERO sense whatsoever...

It's just... It's a whole thing.

However, the worst part is the combat. Gyu actually managed to somehow come up with a combat mechanic that's even more annoying than the previous "randomly learn shit in combat" thing he had in the previous 2 games. (Or was it 3 games? I don't remember anymore...)

I'm obviously talking about Luna's Blue Magic gimmick that lets her pick up a skill from an enemy if she sees them using, as long as she's still alive after the completion of the skill. Now, see, this is where the problems starts. As seems to be case with Gyu, his combat is balanced like crap and is generally balanced around the idea of "kill it with fire before it kills you and chug some mana-pots in between". Survivability is very iffy, healing skills are horribly underpowered and it takes a while before you pick up skills that actually boost your survivability in any way, which means that your ability to learn certain skills depends on grinding levels and on the enemy hopefully targeting someone else other than Luna... and of course most enemies only have 1 learnable skill out of a bunch so you might need to survive a while as they use all sorts of other irrelevant but still damaging skills on your party.

Yet that's not all. That's still manageable... The real issue is that if you play the game without any hints, you have NO real idea which enemies have learnable skills or not, so you'd have to try out every possible enemy there is and let them hopefully use all of their skills to see if Luna picks something up or not. There's bunches of enemies that don't have anything to offer or have dupes of skills Luna might already know from a previous enemy. Bosses are also not repeatable so you might want/need to do some grinding before each one to ensure that Luna can survive because some of the skills are AoE and will obviously kill her if you're not strong enough.

Basically... Use the ci-en guide to see which monsters have a skill and what that skill is as well as whether there's special conditions involved. Seriously, go and use it. It cuts out a lot of pain. There's no reason to subject yourself to the suffering manually.

Itemization is also crap btw. There's nothing interesting there. Consumables are VERY weird. HP consumables quickly become irrelevant outside of the highest tier because HP values become too high for them. While MP consumables remain relevant a long time because the second tier is 2000 MP or something and Luna, the character with the highest MP stat doesn't get that much MP even when she's level 90. Dunno how much you can level-up in this game, but I don't think you can ever reach that high of a MP stat...

Honestly, I could keep going about a lot of stuff... especially since the combat is really only there to pad the game. It was no real relevance to anything aside from the usual "bandits exist that can rape the girls" thing, and even then they only pop-up super-late in the game.

I'll jump into the H-stuff from here... and will start by saying that it's stupid too in a bunch of ways. Gyu's usual trademark of "girls with useless boyfriends/husbands" makes a comeback, this time with the excuse of said partners having been injured in battle. Somehow or another their injuries are long-lasting... in a setting with healing magic... and you don't get any explanation about why, because Gyu's a shit story-teller, but what else is new. ANYway... There's of course guys that want to fuck the girls and use them like sex-toys, this time a pair of brothers that are the village chief's sons... and of course there's an excuse to force the girls to prostitute themselves.

As is the usual case with Gyu, there's no actual gameplay incentive for force the girls to prostitute themselves, so it's really just a choice of "do you wanna see the l00ds or not d00d?"... which I always consider shit design for any game that is supposed to be corruption/NTR focused in any way. The progression of events is very stupid after you make the choice too, with the girls going from zero to turbo-sluts in a very short span of time. The scenes are... not great either. Gyu's animations have improved, I think... but it's still the usual art style and his scenes are eh. The dialogue in the scenes is basically non-existent, most of the lines are random gasps and moans and the girls repeat certain lines like parrots 2-3 times in the same scene.

Worse, there's a number of lines that basically show up in almost every scene for no apparent reason, aside from Gyu being a shit writer, I guess.

Also, even when getting raped, the girls are kind of "Eh, whatever" in their reactions. So the whole thing is just... weird.

Oh, and there's scat now. Luckily, the scenes with it are clearly marked, but yeah, that's a thing. The fact that one of the rewards for picking skills for Luna is scat scenes is... uh... It's a thing. The other one is access to a commentary room. So basically they're all shit.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Just. I could rant a long time about this game's issues. About the only thing that's good about it is that it's stable. Not a single crash or anything. After KoM, that's amazing.

Might as well stop here. Thinking about all the missed potential of this game and what that might mean for the Rei game is depressing...

That circle name isn't ringing a bell for me right now... but it's early in the morning and my brain is still waking up on my end of the world...

Staying more on topic though...

I will say that for all his varied issues, Gyu does have a talent for depicting casual misogyny in a way that you don't see that often in actual games. Sure there's CG sets and mangas and whatnot that have it, but it doesn't pop up in games in the way it does with Gyu's stuff.

So with that alone he has a certain niche that makes him popular. Along with some other things. I have no doubt some people buy his stuff for the art-style alone.

That said, the fact that the Rei game hasn't beaten this game in terms of sales, much les KoM, says a lot about his customer's confidence in his products at the moment.

Yeah one of the "oddest" common theme in Gyu Games Storyline is how deeply entrenched/ okayish written the full corruption route it. It makes "narrative sense". Meanwhile all the canon endings have been the pure route (which is fine by me) but the problem is how he writes the pure routes lol. KoM, KoM IF, BML, and Rei pure route goes like: Villain blackmails protagonists for sex/ into prostitution. The protagonists just says NOPE (then cut to black skip) and the villain will be like "aw shucks they said NO, can't blackmail without their consent (not actual dialogue but that is the gist of what all the villains do)". With extremely minor side character comments about resisting corruption or some shit.

Gyu won't even dedicate a FRACTION of LOGIC in how he writes the pure ends. Even a simple "the protagonists kill the villains for blackmailing them" or some shit would be at bare minimum writing.

Yeeeeeeeah. That's a major issue with Gyu. Well, it was the biggest in KoM and KoM IF, where virgin or non-lewd endings simply didn't make any sense. Not really because of the blackmailing bit, but because KoM in particular presented issues that could only be solved with Alicia/Maya/Rini selling themselves to various bastards. The option to use force didn't really exist lore-wise because Mordouna was not independent at that point and Seriph and the girls on their own couldn't really fight armies.

Luna is actually just a bit better than KoM, in the sense that you can at least pretend in your head that the girls are handling the debts involved via monster-hunting or something... but the game itself doesn't actually give you anything about how things worked out. Especially with Pole and his 10 million debt. Like. Holy shit. I made a lot of gold in my run even accounting for some spending on consumables, but I'm pretty sure I didn't reach 1 full million, much less 10...

Also, weird that Gyu used another gambling addict husband... That idiocy was not cool in TH Mai, and it ain't any cooler now. Why would anyone even WANT to be with a retard like that...? Ugh.

That said, the True Ending being in the pure side of things only started with KoM? Or was it TH Mai? I don't remember... I only remember that in Sistina, the True Ending conditions didn't depend on Sistina being a virgin, but some other stuff.

Do you happen to have a save at that point of the game by chance?
Not really. I have a save that's Full with the game complete on the slut route so to speak. Surely there's already full saves in the thread?

Pure True end started with Mai, in future games you can see Mai going on happy adventures with the other party members/ her friends. Which would be possible only in true end where she became an office lady and went back to the adventure world because she missed it. She wouldn't be free to adventure if corruption route happens. Yeah Cistina true end is the only one where she needs to give birth to the right baby.

I will still never forgive Mai's cuck for that. Convinced her to give up her own happiness for years and then just abandoned her.

Huh. I see. Been ages since I played Mai, so I just don't remember for sure. I thought you could still get the True End as long as you didn't progress H-events a lot or something? I think it was still ok to, for example, end up with virginity loss due to combat rape or whatnot...

Well, either way, Mai's True Ending was still all sorts of crap for other reasons if you think about it.

It also had the worst cucks between that whiny loser Kenichi and what's-his-name with the huge gambling debt.

All in all, it feels like Gyu adds these pure routes so they exist for the audience, but it doesn't really feel like he cares for them one little bit.

- From the dev room of Rei (after finishing the game). Yeah Gyu does not know how to balance writing "good/pure/true end" and the Corruption/NTR/full H route. His writing style is more on the corruption route being an "alternate route" of some kind. Thus in all H games of Gyu he never even acknowledges the fate of the bad guys/ main blackmailing evil dudes in the true/pure end.

Which I think is shit writing. He can at the very least write that the evil dudes got their just deserts (Some H games do this, like Enishia by Shimobashira Workshop [you can report/ jail the blackmailer], or Pray Game by U-Room.

The bad H guys in Gyu games usually just go docile in the true end with no mentions, whatever happened to them, etc.

Oh and yeah according to the dev room Gyu's primary focus is EXTREME SEX (pregnancy with scat and FISTING and GETTING FCKED BY A TOTEM POLE) which is extremely niche and I personally do not find it arousing lol.

At least Mai's True Ending also need you to refuse Kenichi's advances, so it has that going for it.
