Great work on the update Tori. Can't wait to see how much the next updates deviate from the original.
I wonder if Ayumi and/or Ari will play with the pizza boys pepperoni
The girls do enjoy a nice chunky pepperoni
First ever post on f95
so i have been lurking on these boards long enough to say i have played almost all of the top contenders in this category... ai/nts/ntr/phone etc. This is my first ever post. so why now? because i used to care about this game. I thought it had great potential, I enjoy the slow burn, the tension, the art... I was hooked. was.
I stuck with the dev through the questionable decision to remaster. never said an ill word. but this slow walk in development of the story ever since then has just frustrated me to the point i don't care. I feel like i already know what the story will be a year from now as it seemingly will not have even caught up. dev doesn't owe me anything, but I thought i would offer some feedback as to why I'm personally done caring about this game.
to this ^^ I say to you; we will quit saying it when it quits seeming to be the truth. many solo devs have set backs yet this is the most egregious example I can think of, thus why people keep stating it. for most of us, its an honest criticism, not flippant material.
best wishes to your game and may your future endeavors be better planned. However this is game is a final nail as to why I will only put money into complete projects going forward. I simply believe this will see an abandoned tag before a completed one and got bored waiting for seeming micro-progression in a story we have already been told once before. Yet I do wish this project the best. you have real talent in this space and that is undeniable. I just feel like I have been held hostage for this game since the remaster decision. which I was grudgingly willing to look past. or maybe im just a jerk. either way, thanks for the memories, but i think its best if we see other people. <- hey look new material!
I appreciate you taking the time to write up your thoughts instead of the typical one-liner I see often. Especially from OG fans.
The remake decision wasn't made lightly. When I abandoned the "simple remaster" plan for a full remake, I knew it meant essentially starting from scratch.
A remake shares story beats with the original, but it's not easy, instant work. Why would it be? A remake of a movie requires new actors, new processes, new shooting, new script, new CGI, etc. A visual novel is just another medium.
Was it risky? Definitely. But looking at where we are now... I stand by that decision 100%.
If the game survived last year's development hell while I figured out direction and workflows, it's not going anywhere now unless something major shifts in my life.
I'm also transparent about being a solo part-time developer with a busy life outside of BTW. As long as people understand that, then we good.
If you ever decide to check back, perhaps consider playing every few months rather than following each micro-update. I do this myself with games I support.
Does the remake eliminate that awful, awful scene at the cult party?
Won't spoil but party is gonna be very different from OG.
