When I was preparing for my new project, I played a lot of erotic games with a female character —
Lily of Valley ,
Anna Exciting Affection ,
Steps of Debauchery . And I didn't finish any of them.
Though with
Steps of Debauchery it wasn't because of the game — I just found out I had no saves, and I didn't feel like replaying it. Honestly, that's probably a very common reason.
But here's why I quit the others: once the heroine had slept with one guy, then another, then a third, at some point the developer couldn't give me anything new. I mean, what else was left? There had already been an old man, a threesome, a BBC… Yet the projects kept going and going.
At that point, the heroine was still being given choices like “Sex or no sex,” but let's be real — she was already sleeping with everyone indiscriminately. It created a narrative dissonance, and I'd just stop playing.
That's why I'm not planning an overly long development cycle for my central story — I'm aiming to finish it in the remaining 2.5 years out of the 3 I've allocated.
What about you - what are your reasons?
