Is there some kind of a guide for this? I've spent hours total on a few retries, even used cheats to carefully add a bit of courage in the start (didn't want to add too much for fear of skipping & bugging content) and never got anywhere at all. Is it supposed to take like idk 10-20h to get to the lewd content?

I could be wrong ofc and probably am but it seems like there's a million things to do early on and between the massive and not always clear quest log plus the timegated events it just feels like a mess of an unbelievable grind to even get started? But from all I've read about the positives of the game I'd really like to get to the content.

This game is actually designed to take a while to play, make decisions and gather courage in order to unlock things. And there is hardly another game that is as unforgiving of cheats as this one. It could be that you have massively messed up the code and thus destroyed all your chances.

I've known the game for a long time. And I'm trying out a lot of things at the moment, because a lot has changed in detail. But I can say one thing with certainty: you need patience. It was never a game for quick hands-on play.

It seems nobody encountered this problem - at least in the recent times - but after the yoga class, when i got to fuck the instructor, in the shower appears a question sign in the last stall, if i click on it i got the attached error message and the game closes.

What version of the game are you using?

Also, are you using a cheat mod?

I strongly suggest you don't cheat with courage, rethoric, and other stats, because there are high chances that doing so you are going to miss some content, and even get a soft lock (meaning that some content is needed to progress the game, and if you lock yourself out of that content by tampering with stats, you can't progress the game).

I think you can cheat without worry with the following: money, weather, makeup, perfume, cum on MC's body/face, body odor, stress, pain, pregnancy, depression, hunger, tiredness, arousal.

While courage, strength, rethoric, are supposed to increase by performing actions and unlocking contents.
The only thing you can do if you are 1 courage short is drinking alcohol to get a temporary +1 courage.
Example: Action X need 10 courage points, and you have 9. Drink a beer, you get a temporary +1. Now you have total 10 courage and you can perform action X. After you performed action X, your permanent courage is raised to 10.
Now you need to perform action Y which requires 11 courage points. You drink a beer, you get a trmporary +1, so the total is 11 and you can perform action Y. And so on.

If you cheat and you jump from 9 to 11 you can miss some content. And since contents are designed to unlock each other in waterfall, you could soft lock the game (i.e. not being able to progress anymore).

Yes, the quest log is buggy. Many times some hints don't get cleared from the quest log even if you performed the requested action.

Also, yes, I agree that the grinding is too much (but in the ealry releases it used to be even more), but cheating with the non-cheat-safe stats will break your game.

99.6 may not seem like a lot but I have to say I am beyond impressed with the dedication to POLISH. Too few erotic game devs have the dedication, integrity, and the willingness to sacrifice their most important resources -- time and patience -- to provide meaningful polish to their game in their pursuit of a true 1.0 release.

Also, currently (1st January 2025) the mod linked in the OP is updated for v0.99.5, so please DON'T use it for v0.99.6 because it's very likely to cause problems.

(In general, mods substitute some files with their modded version and leave other files untouched. Using a mod designed for release X on release Y will end in you having a mix of files from release X and Y which of course aren't compatilbe with each other)

It's very likely that in a week or two the cheat mod will be updated to v0.99.6

Only thing I don't like about these types of games is maybe add an option to alert you of a choice or something you've already done in your quest to find the new content, after a while some of these sandbox games feel so tedious day to day, other than that i like the game and your 'mom' content in her bedroom was great, i wait verion 1.0 and more bug fixes/polish

By popular demand, find in the attached zip a small tweak to toggle Xmas outfit off/on in Bright Past v0.99.6 ONLY

INSTRUCTIONS

Just copy the "DATA.rpy" file from the attached zip into your "game" folder.


WARNING 1

This tweak is NOT COMPATIBLE with any other mod that redefines the "DATA.rpy" file,
as for instance the CHEAT MOD by Greslux.

Obviously you can have just ONE "DATA.rpy" file in your "game" folder, so it's eiter mine or his.

But since as per today (2nd January 2025 01:30 AM CET) the cheat mod is NOT available for Bright Past v0.99.6, you can use this tweak.
Besides, if you toggle Xmas outfit off, save your game, and uninstall the tweak (make sure you delete not only "DATA.rpy" from your "game" folder, but also "DATA.rpyc"), when you load from a save with Xmas outfit off, you will have it off even without my tweak installed.

WARNING 2

Use on Bright Past v0.99.6 ONLY!
If you use it on ANY other version of Bright Past, you are BREAKING YOUR GAME.

I thought at one point, I saw a list for each of the items but after searching a number of words I thought would work, I am unable to find anything about those two items. Still missing three of the Tara's paintings and can't figure out where to find them as well as a few cards.

Click on the phone (icon on the top right) and choose "Settings", you can deactivate the outfit and the decorations.

It used to be like that, but in v0.99.6 in the phone I can only find the command to remove the Xmas decorations, but not the command to remove the Xmas outfit anymore. I think Kosmos forgot about it in v0.00.6
