I am familiar with the reference. I do not view it as an antisemitic trope because I am not antisemitic. I saw it as a reference to a traitor, which Judas actually was according to the Bible. How the ignorant used that reference and turned into one, of the many, excuses given to persecute Jews from Spain to the Pale in Russia over the centuries is irrelevant to the literary reference. What is likely, however, is the Dev used the phrase innocently. I am very sensitive to the persecution of the Jews for reasons I won’t go into on this forum, but sometimes people try to find offense where none was intended. I have, unfortunately, heard and read much more offensive antisemitic content than this literary reference.
