Not sure why you feel the urge to attack me, but you do you.
I only wanted to point out there was no good take over I've seen so far so the one made that request maybe should not get the hopes to high for it. Maybe there are a few ones which were inspired from an abandoned game ("Our fate" has some). But they are no "take overs", have an own story and 3D models.
I also definitely do not want to hinder if someone want's to try it. I would be glad to be proven wrong here when this game continues with the original story and models.
I did not attack you at all, just criticized your post's attitude and the fact that you instructed everyone else "Forget it, that never worked out so far" solely because in your opinion is hasn't worked successfully before...even though large-scale abandonment of popular AVNs because of the Patreon betrayal is a totally new trend that we have no way of predicting/understanding yet. For all we know 10 years from now there will be dozens of high-profile games that were taken over successfully by devs in other countries, etc., that were able to pick up where the original dev had to leave off.

But by all means feel free to try and paint logic that undermines your position as an Ad hominem attack so you can play the victim. It sure doesn't make your position (your opinion based on an extremely limited sample size and time frame) look any stronger.

It hasn't worked properly even once for any non-visual novel games out there, so why would it work for visual novel ones? Especially since in VNs the most key element is the original author's own vision.

You can make a re-draw or copy of the Mona Lisa, but that doesn't make you Leonardo da Vinci. Finishing someone else's art just ain't that easy, my man.

Not that I agree with that guys reasoning alone, but visual NOVELs are reliant on the story. Very few projects of any kind work out that well let alone any story based projects. Time doesn't change the fact that no one thinks or writes the same. It's better to be inspired rather than be constricted to what you think someone else wants.

It's easy to prove him wrong, isn't it? Just name one abandoned popular game here that has been taken over and successfully finished.

(Not that it matters as no one hasn't even taken a first baby step and announced his interest in taking over BITBG.)

I think he's dead, my dear.gif

The one that comes to mind for me right now is Defective Sexbot Chop Shop, taken over successfully by Squirrel24 and redone as Sexbot Restoration 2124. He's had control over the new one for quite some time after Radnor stopped working on the original (and yes, it still has the Abandoned tag on it).

I can't say Squirrel24's done with it yet either - he keeps expanding and adding on new features. It almost doesn't resemble the original now, and for all intents and purposes it's completely playable (though there aren't really any 'end game' scenarios yet that I'm aware of - it's mostly open ended). But then it isn't your typical AVN with a start-to-finish story, so I think he's exempt from that requirement, especially given the time he's worked on it.

So, there's one.

You seem to be missing my entire point - this is a novel situation (the mass purge of all AVNs with content deemed distasteful by a bunch of religious zealots), so there is no basis for comparison to older games that devs quit on.

Games have been abandoned plenty of times before, but one or two here & there where is was all about the dev and NOT the payment middle-men trying to impose their (hypocritical) morality on the world., so any comparisons to those older abandoned games is not relevant since it would be comparing apples and oranges (individual devs quitting a game vs. many devs being bullied off of games). QED, posting insistent opinion-as-fact about a completely new landscacpe is meaningless...

...except that if those zealots had people registered as members on sites like this, posts telling everyone not to bother trying to restart games they had sucessfully killed is exaclty the kind of posts they would be making...

Well I agree - if it were me I would want to write my own story. I just take exception to anyone telling the world 'no you can't do this because my limited imagination can't envision it.' There are 8-9 billion people in the world, so I'm thinking at least some of them could pick up an abandoned project and move it forward satisfactorily. Call me John Locke, but don't tell me what I can't do.

Anyway, end of this conversation from me .

Sad it's abandoned... i liked it. Any other similar game with naive girls like this?
This game is not really about naive girls it's about a carrot in the ass.
Many corruption ones are like this one start from "Restore her career" and you are good to go.

That's honestly just a stupid take, sorry. 66% of people have internet, 50% are probably opposed to porn, less than 50% are interested in making a game, even less than 50% actually will, so on and so fourth. By the slim margin it can be done by a person who is interested and capable, that person could also create their own vision whilst also respecting the creator's original work.

Hopefully this will get revived eventually, just need somewhere to host it is what it sounded like. To bad SS is weird about allowing new creators in.
