Camp Episode 2 : Free Release

il y a 7 heures
Hey folks! It's finally that time, Camp Episode 2 is now available to anyone who'd like to give a shot! Attached to this post is links for the PC and Mac Versions of the game, along with a small patch for either version that should be able to update any already existing version of Episode 2 to the most recent version. Unfortunately there won't be a patch for updating Episode 1 to Episode 2 due to a large number of ui changes, but hopefully I'll be able to provide patch files for upgrading episodes in the future.
  • PC - , ,
  • Mac - , ,
Thank you to everyone who's supported the game, and to anyone who's given it a shot! If you have an issues with the game, please don't hesitate to reach out and I'll see what I can do to get things fixed up for you. If you've got the chance, please leave a review for the game wherever you found it, it really helps me out, and even a poor or middling review can help me get an idea where you all would like to see me improve!

Hmm... Kurt is talking about one of the other councilors and using "they/them" pronouns. I don't see any Trap or Futa/Trans tags, so there better not be any surprise penises in my future...

There are also people born with female genitalia who identify as non-binary and use they/them pronouns

i need the locations of all 10 trash on the lake
In the game folder there are two images attached, DebrisSpoilers and DebrisSpoilers2, it's spoilers for all 10 small trash, and the one large trash that is potentially easy to overlook during the second clean up. If it's not there for some reason then there you go!

As a quick edit : Seems like several folks are getting stuck on the free roam section, that's on me for making one of the pieces of debris a bit too hard to find. Future versions of the game will include a more intuitive answer for finding help rather than just "look in the game files." Sorry for any frustration! I'll do a proper full patch down the line where I make everything look nicer, but for now, here's a mini patch, which should add a help button to the garbage collection zones.

Adjustment Mod

Hi...I compiled together a few useful mod's and did a few minor visual changes that compliment the look of this title. (Improved visibility)

  • Changed the default beige textbox, to a custom dark bottom shaded version...which aids with viewing the dialog text without blocking any of the background content.
  • Edited the GUI.rpy file, …changed the dark text colors, and adjusted a few font sizes.
  • Included the 0x52_URM tool, which allows a user to view as well edit Ren'Py titles. (Used to verify and see more data behind some of the story choices, as well it can display requirement checks as they happen through out the story.)
  • Also included a Universal Quick Menu mod, which hide's or display's the quick menu by pressing your Q key. (Used to help clean up the dialog area by hiding the quick menu from the bottom of your screen.)
  • Included a custom font outline script, which adds dark outlines around the dialog text and the character names...(Visually improves the dialog and name text, which compliments the text against the new custom dark textbox.)
  • Included the Universal Choice Descriptor Mod, which can display on screen data that is hidden behind the story choices, that can offer points and other game related info.
  • Included a Universal Textbox Slider, features an opacity slider and font size slider added to the preferences section.

Install:
Just extract and merge the game folder with this titles game folder (over write when prompted). Then run your game exe, and enjoy the minor changes. (Mainly reduces eye strain for us older folks.)

Note: This mod compilation will not need regular updates, (providing no major coding changes are done to the original script of this title)...it should continue to work for future game releases.

Regards.

Could you please update the mod for episode 2, particularly the text size? I'm getting non-start error statements when I try to use the current mod on Episode 2. Thank you

Planned eventual tag, although I think I may have missed noting it down on my original planned tags list for the game. Not far enough into the story for it to be applicable yet.
Hmm...If a harem path choice is still being considered for your project, I'd suggest adding that to your future tags already mentioned. As this info can aid players who prefer to know in advance if a developing title will have that kind of path choice added later on.

And normally seeing the romance tag, this tag tells players that eventually the story will lock out action with the other love interests...thus ending in a forced pick one girl ending. (Not my favorite path choice...)

Regards.

Yeah the incorrectly sized images are from the old saves being sized differently than the new ones, making them larger than their old spots, it might be fixable but I'd have to figure that out and it just wasn't worth the extra time for something that was one-version specific. They should still be playable, but I know one person did have issues loading their save file, and I couldn't manage to replicate it.

As for the Jane thing, I know it's an issue, but it's a decision between "Let the player start the final conversation without her and she just appears there", "Force the player to go meet Jane", or "Have her be there if you happen to talk to Fi/Liv last, and just continue to have her in the woods if you leave." There's nothing really stopping her from following you if she sees you leave, so I ended up landing on that one. I could technically rework the event to force talking to Kurt/Ellie last, and disable her event after you talk to them, but that removes the potential punishment of talking to them before talking to Nikki if they asked you to get booze from her earlier in the night. I could force her to text you after one or two conversations, but then she wouldn't have had an opportunity to grab your phone number from Liv.

Giving it some thought, when I have some time to dig through old files I'll see if I can find her talk scene and render up a bit of extra conversation mentioning that she came back because it was getting late but saw you leave.

That's interesting ... so you get the texts after talking to Fi/Liv, not because you finished talking to everyone. That makes sense ... I'll have to see if I want to play that differently. Another option might be to delay the event if you do talk to Liv last and have it happen the next night at the beginning of whatever free roam even is planned. No idea which would be more complicated.

Also, some paragraphs extend to the bottom, where they run behind the quick menu. Either reducing the point size by 3-5 or adding a size slider for the dialog text would fix that easily enough.
Hey sorry, wanted to follow up on this. I ran through the game looking for points where the text overran 4 lines potentially causing an overlap like you mentioned, but wasn't able to find any. Do you know where those came up? It's possible I rolled right through them because I haven't had time to meticulously check through the whole thing again, but I sought out the longest lines in each episode and none of them broke 3 lines, which doesn't leave them overlapping.

I'm wondering if it might be a mac/android emulation issue, or maybe ren'py having separate font sizes for some reason that I'm not familiar with?

I don't know what to say to that. I have multiple paragraphs that reach four lines and I've seen 4 or 5 that go below the screen (I read the whole paragraph by looking at the history). Maybe something about my PC made the font larger than it should be?

I do use URM, but I tried a fresh install without it and a new game, but the font was the same size, so that doesn't seem to be my problem (unless it's a persistent file issue ... never had this issue with URM though).

Edit: I'm not a coder, but I know there are games out there that have put a text-size slider in their preferences (usually work just like the box transparency, volume, etc)

Hm yeah, your font is larger than expected. and is missing the font the game is intended to use. I'll add a font size slider in the next patch just in case anyone else is running into the same issue, it shouldn't take too much extra work.

Well damn, that looks so much better than the generic font ... if anyone has any idea how I can get the original font to show up, I'd appreciate it.

Press shift+A and see if anything got changed there. Or it should reset it if you delete your persistent file.

That did it. Thanks! Fixed Everything.

(Clarify: For some reason wasn't on default ... switched to default and all is well)
