If someone wants to use AI to make their own 2D Art, that's very good. Over the years many artists gatekeeped the 2D behind ghosting or unreasonable prices. That being said, Artists are still very much needed and useful. Not only AI art is not perfect or stylized enough (So you need an artist to fix it, or at least someone half competent to do it), but artists also create arts through layers (which are needed to create models, see vtubers for instance) and therefore make consistent changes when needed.
Last but not least, AI can only replicate what has already been done, so for instance it'd be completely useless to me as I want a consistent lineart, which is something real artists don't even do, let alone AI which bleeds it with the background.

Majority of people that use AI art are the same people that, without that option, would just go for 3D.

If AI means more quality games that would never exist otherwise then it's a net positive.

Of course AI can also mean a bunch of low effort garbo which we have seen in the last year.. but that happened regardless. AI didn't really invent that problem.

"But AI made it worse!!" I hear you say.. but honestly - Not really.. IMO.

Users who hammer commands to an AI algorithm are no Artists.
They are watchers.
Send a bunch of commands and see what happends..
its AI who creates these images not the user.

Thats why they never should take credit for their work.
ok to make AI games for free/fun but it should be ilegal to earn money from it.

ok to use a computer to do mathematic computations for stress and strain to design bridges and high-rise towers for free/fun but it should be ilegal (sic) to earn money from it.

ok to use a printing press to print books for free/fun but it should be ilegal (sic) to earn money from it.

ok to use a tractor to plant and harvest grains, fruits, and vegetables for free/fun but it should be ilegal (sic) to earn money from it.

Not gonna happend as long as AI is 2D art.
to make games..change camera views..keep the fucking environment intact and so on
you need a 3D space.
AI doesnt have it.

its only good to create random images.

if you have a scene in a room you want the same room even when you change view right?
if AI should make games you will have a different room for each view.
its called an uncanny fuck fest.
AI dont know how to keep the environment thats why it never can do fully working games.

If your job is replaced by a simple tool that does everything faster, cheaper, and better, then why should your job be anything more than a novelty? It has happened all throughout history. Obsolete jobs get phased out. New ones come into existence. But AI art and LLMs aren't better yet, and it's arguable if it ever will be in a creative field. Your very example shows that TV is convenient and accessible to the masses. But it isn't inherently "better." So we still have theater, concerts, live shows, etc etc. On the other hand, the horse and buggy is completely useless compared to a car as a mode of transportation. It only remains as a novelty.

So they accept the first image that pops out? They DON'T continue to make changes / adjustments until the images they want to create comes out?

Also just to make sure we are on the same page,

IF a person uses a computer program to take images / colours / effects and make a completely new image / images they are not artists.
What is a person who doesn't use a computer program but takes images / colours / effects they did NOT make and uses them to make a new image / images?

That applies to certain "types" of games, NOT all games. Going off of your example of a room, MANY games use single images (VN'S, Texted based etc.) or layout (rpgm, side scrollers etc.)

It DOESN'T "appear" on your screen, YOU scroll to / past it or navigate / use links to reach it. None of which would happen if you used search correctly and ignored the tag / tags.
