Or have more people with the skills to finish it not give a crap about copyright law. There's a growing number of those actually if you count the ones with no Daz or Renpy skill, as some abandoned AVNs (ie AOA Academy off the top of my head) have simply been grabbed from here and put on Steam, with people actually buying those (probably clueless to the fact that it's abandoned and can be had for free here, AVNs are kind of a niche anyway). Sure, the og dev can sue, but since it was abandoned years prior probably doesn't have the money for a lawyer to do so.There should be a statute in that copyright rule that if a VN is abandoned with no activity from a dev for a certain number of years, their rights to said VN should be null and void, and anyone willing can continue.
Frankly, a rule change like that may actually improve the chances a Dev actually completes their game.
