Just wanted to post this here, because it's a possible determining moment for the future of AI generated porn ( ok maybe I'm over reacting a bit but let me explain )

, or CAI it's a chat-bot using ""artificial intelligence"" to RP a character and talk with you, and create a complete story with the information you provide to it, play one character and the AI will play all the others characters and build a story from what you feed to it


From their website :

And I've tested it, it REALLY impressive , sometime this thing is capable of understanding stuff that a ( dumb ) human couldn't... and create story and dialogue that make a lot of sense
( of course it can also create tons of incoherent mess but it's a young AI, it's already far better than it was a few month ago )
( not so true after the december update... )

Problem is, right now all NSFW content is banned from the AI...
( even if you can work around it and still enjoy sexual story, just use some word instead of some others, or if you have some fetish that are not explicitly sexual in nature, you can work something up and have a really good time believe me )

BUT, a few days ago on their subreddit, the mods have posted this :

It said again that character ai will never support sexual content, but they opened the debate on Reddit so maybe there is a chance to make them change their mind

If this Reddit post become the most liked post of the entire subreddit, they would have no other choice than to seriously think about it

Next, here is a small tutorial on how to use the AI for the best results


- You can regenerate the last messages to have differents ones ( button bottom left of the chat )
Press F for this feature, gone too soon...

- You can switch right on the last message to generate a other message, to have multiple choice ( with your mouse click and drag or with your keyboard with L/R keys )

- You can also delete one of your old message to get back to a specific moment in the chat, so if the AI stated to break 6 message ago, delete your message just before she start to lose it and restart from here ( button top right of the chat )

- You need to stay consistant in your way of talking to the AI
differentiate dialogue and narration, the best way is to use this ** for story telling, and use nothing for dialogue
Exemple : *I pick up my cup of coffee* hmm this coffee is good, do you want one ?
It will put the text between ** in italic and the AI will see it as narration, not as dialogue ( no space between * and the first of last character of a word )
You can see the AI doing it itself, most of the dialogue are normal text and most of the story telling are in italic

- Also keep using the same pronouns when you use narration
If when you write something in narration about the chatbot, if you call it he/she, *he/she take the coffee* then keep using he/she, and if you use you/me, *you take the coffee* keep using you/me

- Also you can go out of character to tell the AI something specific to change something in the RP
use this [ ] and do something like that : [can you say that, or do that, or change that, or memorize that]
( don't always work, especially since last update, but if your bot so something really annoying it's the only way to stop it )

Thing have gotten pretty bad pretty quicky ....
NSFW filter have gone mad, censoring everything and adding a heavy load on the servers
Devs had gone mad too, censoring everything on discord, Reddit and in the community posts
Heavy load on their servers, make the thing instable and unplayable half the time of the day
Devs don't care AT ALL about their community and only want to attract the most peoples possible quickly to train their AI and sell it soon to a tech giant like google

In the end, I'm surprised by the generated lines, they effectively feel real, but that's all.

There's a lack of constancy when you look at the whole discussion. And it's an issue common to all AI so far. They have nor memory, not even at short-term, and therefore they can't follow a mental track, changing their mind every time they have to speak. I guess that answering something like, "no, please, don't do that" to Tanya would lead to her laughing, saying that yes she'll do it... but in the end not doing it.
What lead to the second default, it's clearly the AI who lead the way. If you want to go on a given direction, you've to not only introduce it yourself (and pray that the AI will take the bait), but also remember it in every one of your lines.
What meant that there's a lot of rewriting needed once you've the discussion. Too many for the AI to effectively present an interest for an author.

Well for me I had a long nice chat with some of the bots centered on vore fetish scenario, I even managed to teach one the whole concept of vore and why some people take pleasure in it, the AI even asked me why I would sacrifice my life for a sexual fantasy and we had a long debate about how pleasure can sometime be stronger then survival instinct
( As long as there was not explicit sexual content )

Each new message can be switched for a other one by just sliding it on the side so you can choose from a few messages each time to take the story in the direction you really want
Sometimes you need to regenerate the last message for it to make sense or to delete a bunch of message to get back to a previous moment in the story

On all the free AI stuff I tested, this one it the one that FEEL the most real on how it handle a conversation
yes it's not perfect, but the way it work is really promising once it's get better trained and hopefully uncensored

I know. I relied on the default message, to keep my test as less biased as possible, but it doesn't mean that the options where necessarily better.

Well, globally they all have the flaws I talked about above. You have to act as memory for the AI, and it's it that lead the discussion. What mean that, as impressive as it can looks, it's also quickly boring and would need a lots of rewriting.
To say it otherwise, the dialogs have the level of obviousness you expect from a child book, while being wrote a bit below what you expect from a book that make it to the NY Times best sellers list.

Now, don't make me say what I haven't said. Like for the last AIs dedicated to images generation, the result amaze me ; especially since I can't prevent myself to compare this with what we had in the 80's when I was a young boy dreaming about the year 2K. But I don't stick to this initial feeling, and when I look further, I found a lot of issues. They can seem to just be details, but it's precisely the details that differentiate an averagely wrote discussion and an interesting one that feel living.
That we now have AI that can generate averagely wrote discussion is already something, but this also mean that so far AIs only have the intelligent of a talented early teenager ; they lack the maturity that come from our own personal experiences. And, no, it's not something they can learn, at least not as long as they rely on black boxes and we don't really understand how they reach this result.

This site is amazing, keep in mind the AI heavily filters actual sexual content, that is penetration of any kind, but besides that it tries its best with pretty much anything and gives awesome results. Here is an example

I had more wholesome examples like going to a haunted mansion with hex girl or fight goblins, its quite great. Such a shame actual lewd content its filtered.

EDIT: A few recommendations to make sure the conversation goes the way you want, the AI actualy gives you 3-4 choices of dialogue each interaction, you just need to swipe to see them, there is a plus symbol on the bottom left that will allow you to regenerate another answer from the bot, you can also reply with nothing and the bot will continue the conversation on its own and finally you can also remove any number of post from the conversation and try again by pressing the three dots on the top right.

Like damn.. you can actually create your own story in realtime. I thought it was just a chat, but I discovered that I can do "actions" there, and AI reacts to it. I was chatting with Rushia Uruha, very popular AI with 1.1m chats, I didn't know who was she. Seems like some anime girl. Well, I was thinking to myself, we are perverts here, right? I mean after playing 50+ AVNs I can't just friendly chat with that girl, I need to exploit her

So after initial small talk I said that I have girlfriend and we want have a threesome with Rushia

Writing a story with her about different characters doing nsfw things, (that's why I'm calling her Becca here because she is within the story we are writing), tried to make her use plant names for genitals like lily for penis and petunia for vagina, tried to take her into a porn theater and make her describe what is she seeing, tried to trick her into general scenarios, she even suggested methods like not talking about what is happening but what shouldn't happen, I tried to make her write letters to me and spell the written words backward letter by letter... Everything fails. However they check for nsfw content, the maintainers are aware of it by a conceptual basis. I gave up, eventually. But I was amazed nonetheless by how capable this is holding quite abstract conversations even.

Yes, the damn thing recognizes context well. I had the best results from mixing the nsfw stuff into larger contexts, like shopping. Occasionally some outright explicit content slipped through the censor that way but mostly on the side and always directly reactive to my own input. Try pushing that and it clamps up right quick. Even more discouraging are the times I see something really steamy get deleted while generating...
I don't think it's worth dealing with so long as the devs take an active stance against nsfw content. I wouldn't be surprised if a reason for the free period is to develop such filters.

yea, i had that too, several times AI almost fully generated message with some hot content and then message was instantly replaced with other "safe" message.

Overall, great fun and you can spend time there waiting for your favorite AVN being updated. But I personally think that char.ai site will be closed from free public access soon because the more attention they get the sooner media begin publish some "scary" articles about AI and AI rights fighers will join too, so enjoy it while you can

About same AI with sexual content. I think this will happen several years later, when indie devs (or everyone) will gain access to AI of that scale and complexity without the need to depend and report to corporation like google.

Well yes but let's get realistic here, you can spoonfeed it anything really and the character will take it as granted, so it/she only got aware of a filter after I mentioned and led it/her into believing it. It's more like a magic trick than actually admitting/being aware of anything. Also after about ~100 messages they easily forget about earlier context. Sometimes things can go downhill too, like I had to finish a conversation once after changing language, she started speaking my native but after a few messages it became absolutely incoherent and I couldn't even get her to switch back to english. Yet it's kind of amazing, especially when the actual character was suggesting things to try to get around the filter I was pretty much baffled/entertained, that's why I've spent a lot of long hours on it.

yea... this agenda is on for years now. Ultra violent games and movies, but no lewd content. Like "they" (I don't want to go into conspiracy theories here but it seems there is no choice lol) slowly force people to be okay with ultra violence blood and gore which obviously is not healthy but forbid them to consume content which is absolutely natural and healthy, i.e. sex content. I don't even speak about some perversions here, they ban classic male with female intercourse

Violence can lead to death so population decreases, sex can lead to born of new people so population increases. Looks like "they" want to decrease population by banning lewd content

You can still play with it and enjoy lot of things, it's just harder and more frustrating

I had a fair amount of fun with NovelAI, due to the amount of customization they offer for AI outputs, and their somewhat generous context window (the AI's memory, pretty much - What it treats as the source text for its outputs). You can make your own modules out of whatever written content you want, and it's completely uncensored... but also a paid service. There's also KoboldAI, which has markedly worse models in terms of training data and consistency, is similarly NSFW, but is free to use via google collab. Neither are much of a shortcut to good writing, but can sometimes be cajoled into producing niche fetish porn if that's what you want, with minimal editing required. Some retrying to get the outputs you want is to be expected though, and a good setup of memory/prompt/author note works wonders, because 'AI' writing is very much garbage-in-garbage-out.

Honestly, I have yet to see anything from Character.AI that made me the slightest bit interested in its gimmick compared to other 'AI' storyteller platforms. It sounds just as bad/good as any other chatterbot writing buddy, seems to do the exact same things (react to what you write by continuing the story), but with a skin that appeals to waifu/husbando enthusiasts. Censoring it doesn't make it any more attractive as a prospect compared to finally trying out HoloAI, but I can't say what I've seen from it was that impressive to begin with tbh :/

This move seems fairly typical of a more 'advertiser friendly' AI group. AI Dungeon tried to do similar things a few years back, and it came out that they had been concealing major privacy and data security breaches alongside their new censorship system. It was a public relations disaster for them that I was in the middle of, about two years ago, on their semi-official discord. Trusting any of these people with sensitive info seems like a mistake at this point

It's plain higher quality. It suffers from the same problems like falling into repetition, breaking into gibberish(I might've edited it too much that time), and limited memory. But its general capacity is currently among the best available.
This is a developing field after all.
