TBF, there was a 2022 revival of that series (not a reboot/remake, but a direct sequel using the original lore). There were a lot of people who weren't born yet during the first series who watched it as a result.

I would but they all have my own name and not Alex (the default one.) I don't think there's a way to change it part way through without a mod, which I don't use.

But it didn't end in a bar (and it made occasional references to the original series.) Too bad it didn't get renewed.

All of the identified issues with the 1st release candidate have now been fixed. This included some last-minute changes to some dialog and path choices, some coding issues, etc... Beta feedback went as far back as Chapters 7 and 9, where some coding issues were addressed as well (won’t have an impact on your existing saves, but new players won’t experience those mistakes, including the missing two trust points for Mal on a Love Mal path). We beta-testers should have an RC2 build later today, this will also be our first-look at the end credits rolling, and if all is well with that build, this will be the release you’ll get to experience shortly…

No, the upcoming release is the epilogue to finish the game's story, slated to be bigger than any previous single update of the game. It's just that it's in final testing at the moment to find and fix bugs.
