Rpg maker has been fucking Vanny for a while now, apparently the combat system alone took around a year of strangling to get to work the way vanny wanted it to, because a LOT of RPG maker is hard coded to hell

I wonder how quicker development would have been if he picked a different engine.

Oh god, it's worse than I imagined. I got a little bit of experience working with hardcoded stuff, and all I can say is... hardcoded systems are a bitch.

the only one i can think for a single person production i would say is GODOT n that one still has it's issues

It really depends on the developer and how much coding they want to be involved in. Maybe RPGMaker was the right tool for the developer, but who knows? Some other engine might have been a better choice, but we are way past that decision, and we can't afford to spend one more year rewriting the ENTIRE game to fit a new engine.

Okay, let me clarify here for the clueless. The game IS NOT ABANDONED! Not even close. The dev is working on the update as I write this post, and we are REALLY close to a release. No, for real, CLOSER THAN YOU THINK! It so happens that there is just one SINGLE bug holding the entire update from releasing, and somehow it feels like it's an easy solution, but RPGM is just not helping.

I really do hope this game won’t be abandoned.. It was/still is looking super promising, and it really would suck if all that time (and money) that was spend went to waste!! I’d gladly wait for how ever it long takes for the game to be finished/be updated again instead of it just being scrapped entirely.
