Man Usually I look a NTR like I'm a voyeur. And most of the time the MC kinda earns the NTR by making dumb choices. But this shit was depressing.
I do not agree at all, I think it is the best "NTR" I've seen in a game, the guy ignites it, see the girl who loved and desired and that makes him feel less, depresses him and even So he wants to see her with another almost as a placebo of what he will never have. This is the kind of VN that I'd expect from someone that hates the people that like NTR. It lacks all the essential emotional strings required for an empathic response to the MC's situation ... instead it just feels like scorn and derision.
The only potentially 'real' NTR is the girlfriend, but it's made pretty clear that the MC doesn't really seem to care about her one way or the other, and just likes to watch .. I guess you could call it an 'American cuckold fetish', but it's so emotionally flat that I suspect he was just so thoroughly bored of her and by foisting her off on some other guy was the only way he could get rid of her without feeling bad about hurting her by breaking up like normal people would.
The idea that you can be NTR'd by your mum when you neither know about it nor care enough about her to even visit is laughable ... so much so that I'd wonder if the creator thinks that every 'step' parent is automatically NTR'ing their step kids. That it's done by someone they don't like is really neither here nor there.
As for the 'childhood friend', every single normal male has an unrequited love, that's how life works not everyone is sexually available ... that there was no prior sexual involvement doesn't stop this from being NTR but the fact that there was no time frame, it was a one and done, pretty much makes this the lamest wannabe NTR ever, and more akin to what practically every male that has a platonic female friend goes through at some point or other, ok perhaps they don't get to actually see it in action.
Then when they met up after all those years there was such limited time between 'hello' and 'goodbye' leaves zero scope for even the most basic requirements of NTR.
What we actually have here is at best more akin to a voyeurism fetish, at worst just ordinary peoples lives ... well ordinary if you've ever spent much time at university.
I couldn't disagree more. At the very core of all NTR there has to be a viable and meaningful relationship that is then taken away by things outside of the MC's control. We the viewer/player have to be put in a position whereby we can see the trainwreck coming but have almost zero control over it. The MC has very little or zero insight into what's going on behind the scenes, they just get to experience the consequences. In the best NTR the player is given more information that the MC, but ultimately they are both trickle truthed with it becoming increasingly explicit as time goes on, until at the end it all comes out and the MC loses everything. The skill in making a good NTR game relies upon creating this tension, while also allowing for choices that may or may not help. Turning the page, A promise best left unkept, and heaps of Japanese games all come to mind. You may not like the MC, you may get angry over what happens but what none of them do is have an MC without a meaningful relationship with the 'object of their affection'. Even in the few where the MC explicitly instigates/goes along with and sees the action the 'tension' is created by the hubris of the MC, they could have stopped it but they didn't and what we see is how the chickens come home to roost.I do not agree at all, I think it is the best "NTR" I've seen in a game, the guy ignites it, see the girl who loved and desired and that makes him feel less, depresses him and even So he wants to see her with another almost as a placebo of what he will never have.
It seems to me a more human and realistic point of view than the other games.
They would have more games like this
It is true that history could be better if it were more developed.I couldn't disagree more. The 'object of affection' has to hold some real meaning, some strong two way connection, something that is the MC's that they thought they'd have for life and yet here it is being taken away or carelessly discarded. That's why NTR can also be non-sexual, so a mum, sister, best friend, even your dog would work ... it just has to be something important that was 'yours' and has/is being taken away, through ways that you are mostly powerless to stop ... feeling kind of like Kafka's 'K' in The Castle.
There are plenty of things that people will lust after or even think they love but will never have. Why should we care? and we don't unless they already have a meaningful relationship with that thing and we see it being taken away from them, and even then it's mostly only if it's being unfairly taken away. Otherwise it would be a bit like watching porn and then getting upset that the actress you like is banging some random actor and not you. Or seeing a Super car and crying because it's not yours.
This story is about some sad loser that likes someone that doesn't reciprocate, and has given no real indication that there ever could be reciprocation (quite the opposite in fact), and then the loser watches as that person has sex with someone else. That's basically voyeurism, not NTR. If that's your idea of NTR, just go watch a random neighbour through their bedroom window getting railed, jack off while crying over the fact it's not you doing the railing ... apparently works even better if you've said hello to them once or twice.
Yeah it might be all too human as there are many cases of unreciprocated love, especially by socially awkward borderline nut jobs, but it doesn't make for an interesting story anymore than watching a lock-in jacking off to porn in his basement makes for an interesting story.
Just to stretch that thought ... there are so many 'chat cam' sites, so it's not hard to imagine that somewhere a frequent user has forged a more meaningful and connected relationship to one of the 'performers' than the MC has with the so-called LI in this game (actually we don't have to imagine because there are very real cases of performer and paying customer getting it together in RL). Just imagine though, after a couple of weeks/months, of daily one way exchanges of money/gifts the conversations typed and spoken, private shows, the two way cam exchanges and all that entails etc. That would all make for a more in-depth 'relationship' than the one in this game ... yet no one would think anything other than 'batshitcrazyfknut, move on, get a life' if this guy then started to get overly upset because the 'performer' started a relationship with someone in RL.
In reality, this would actually make for a far better story, it could be told from the 'performers' POV and everyone would see the sad loser as the evil obsessed clown that they are ... which is my point exactly. The MC in this game isn't the 'good guy' unintentionally getting screwed over by life, or even intentionally by some nefarious 'bad guy', and I think that is exactly what the DEV intended, probably because they despise and hate the kind of MC you normally see in a genuine NTR game, and by extension I suspect that's how they feel about the people that like NTR games.
Now if this game were to create a more meaningful backstory to the relationship between the MC and the 'object(s) of affection', something that we can see as being more powerful that 'oh, here's someone I used to know, I still fancy them but they have moved on a long time ago'. If the game were then to hide the behaviours of the 'O of A' from the MC but not the viewer, thus allowing the MC to continue believing that he still had a chance to redeem that long lost relationship, that would be one thing ... but no, what we have here is a sad deluded voyeur thinking they're being cucked and absolutely no NTR.
Oddly enough this story if you think about it isn't too far-fetched that it couldn't happen in real life seeing as all the elements individually can and have happened to people in real life.Nah, man. What we never want to see in a NTR game: Based on true events.
