Just downloaded 0.2 to take a look since you asked in the past about opinions on AI CG being used in games so might as well see what you're cooking.

tldr: I can see you've put quite some thought into the design and style of the game: starting classes seem well defined and the bonuses for each actually make you think what might be better for the first run. The script looks AI generated, the options don't seem to matter in the prologue, and that sets a bad precedent since now I'm more inclined to ignore the writing and not think about choices either. The art-style is rather inconsistent even though it looks good on a vacuum.

The sandbox sim-dating aspect of the game after the prologue doesn't seem bad, but it seems to be a bit unclear in terms of progress. There doesn't seem to be a way to know how much you're actually progressing with each girl after each interaction. For now I'm guessing you just need to keep stacking up positive interactions until you move up a stage in the relationship.

In short, I will give it a fair chance even though it's not 100% what I like to see.

Thanks for taking the time to download, play through the game, and write such a detailed review - I really appreciate when someone gives honest, thoughtful feedback like this. In fact, I can't express enough how much I prefer actual 'played the game' feedback over the majority of what I see. So THANK YOU!

But of course, I want my opportunity to respond, so here it is:

I'll be upfront - yes, I use AI as an editing tool. I write the story, plot, and dialogue myself, save for some dungeon scenario situations, then use AI to help polish the drafts for clarity and flow. Pretty much what I'm doing right now with this reply, actually.

The prologue sets up the world and tone that everything else builds from, and I'm glad you noticed the thought that went into the class system and mechanics.

As for choices - Chronoromancer is designed around roleplaying, not min-maxing. With 70+ NPCs and thousands of interactions, we've built it so you make choices based on personality, not optimal point gains. Within each NPC's storyline, choice variations award the same points - so you pick the response that feels right to you. The strategic choice is which character to pursue, not how to respond to them. No save-scumming needed - just play your character.

Some early choices might feel redundant for that reason - I've played games like Persona where the specific dialogue choices matter, and I find myself staring at wiki guides instead of playing. So it was a personal preference choice. That said, choices absolutely do matter - each one elicits a unique response and sometimes even a different image. Eventually, when you reach high relationship levels with developed characters, their intimate scenes become fully multi-path choose-your-own-adventure narrative sequences with vastly different outcomes. Choices that involve picking between different NPCs have different rewards and consequences. And in the dungeon, the player encounters a variety of scenarios where every choice has a different stat check, reward, or punishment. So the reality is, there's a lot of both :)

On the art side - my wife (Vixen777) spends countless hours working on the character designs and renders. She's beside me right now on her drawing pad helping prepare images for v0.3. Yes, we use AI tools as part of the process, but we're definitely not just prompting and dumping. There's a lot more to it than that, though we prefer to keep our full workflow to ourselves.

Style consistency though - I dunno, you're right. I'm not a graphic artist myself. I'm a musician, and I've made 15 original tracks for this game so far. The style is different on each one, but I assure you every single note on every single instrument has been performed by myself or one of my friends and manually edited by me. It's just the way it is.

The quest clarity thing - totally fair, and we're actively working on that. We've been iterating with each update based on feedback. Started with nothing, added clickable character cards, then meeting time/location indicators that unlock at certain relationship levels, quest hints tied to NPCs, skill-based information reveals... But yeah, we agree it still needs work. More direct quest guidance is coming in future versions - it's an ongoing refinement process.

Thanks again for giving the game a fair shot and sharing your perspective. Feedback like this really does help shape where the game goes next. And I really hope you do not feel I am trying to be defensive .. again, I sincerely appreciate and respect the time you took for your review. And I understand if the game style wont ever be what you 100% enjoy. And I admit myself, that I am aiming more for a huge - quantity style of game rather than a very .. hmm.. not sure how to put it, like.. AI-FREE natural only game. So the best I can say is.. ya.. we use AI as a tool. But we don't let it use us :) Heck... a future AI controlled world where people relied too heavily on it, is the whole games plot! Nothing to hide here :))

Believe me that I have absolutely no intention of downplaying the effort you and your wife have put and continue putting into this game. I have no reason to doubt she works hard in the art, but one can't help but point out when characters seem to use a very different style compared to the others.

As for the writing, I'm sorry to hear this was actually written by you and then "polished" by AI. Again, not because using AI as a tool is wrong, but because I think it achieves a result that overshadows your work, and that's pretty sad. It's one thing to have AI fix your grammar when doing posts in a forum, or even while writing too, but from what I've read so far, it never felt like "handwritten then polished". It's full of what I call AI artifacts: overused phrasing, the need to slap adjectives or modifiers of some sort onto actions and objects and people and furniture and everything, describing emotions and expressions constantly. Anyway, a bunch of things that feel "unnatural" when you read it one after the other with attention.

To make it clear, this doesn't make the game BAD, maybe it helps you save time and if you're satisfied with what you got then I'm not in a position to tell you to feel otherwise. I'm merely stating that from my perspective, you don't get better results with an AI touching up the script you've already written. Well, I cant argue with you there. I never got good marks for creative writing in school. I like my ideas - and I have a lot of them. But my actual writing isn't good. See.. I wont use AI to polish this response - but I'll keep it short :) I'm a coder and musician, my wife is an artist and singer. Perhaps one day, if we ever make some money, I can hire a writer to help the game feel more authentic. I even looked at it .. but even $0.025 per word, is still beyond our current budget - which, realistically, is $0 ! :) Well, here's hoping for the future! ..

I wont use AI to polish this response - but I'll keep it short :) I'm a coder and musician, my wife is an artist and singer. Trust me, you don't really need to be great at creative writing to make a compelling story. Specially if you already have the plot outlined, and the plot is not bad. It's clear you wanted each character to have its personality, even the dragon. And the humor is there too. The issue is mostly in the "aesthetics" of the writing, the style of prose.

As a suggestion, you could consider using AI to help you outline the scenes you want to write or even the exchanges between characters, but then act yourself as the editor and remove all the extra fluff that you consider excessive. I haven't tried it myself but maybe even the AI itself can help you point out what feels over-the-top in its own writing if you ask it.

Anyway, thank you for trying your best to make a game and make it available here. I do wish you luck because it's quite promising, from the mechanics to the idea itself. Except for Vera's dart minigame, I'm sure it requires higher stats to help with aim but jesus, that's a harsh game.

It's clear you wanted each character to have its personality, even the dragon. And the humor is there too. The issue is mostly in the "aesthetics" of the writing, the style of prose.

As a suggestion, you could consider using AI to help you outline the scenes you want to write or even the exchanges between characters, but then act yourself as the editor and remove all the extra fluff that you consider excessive. I haven't tried it myself but maybe even the AI itself can help you point out what feels over-the-top in its own writing if you ask it.

Hahah :)) If you raise your 'Ability' stat, that game will become too easy. The REAL challenge is, beating Abby's dance game. ;)

If this is about saving the universe by saving human connections, I hope it won't be tainted by the stench of NTR. I also hope the brothel part is optional since it seems to go very much against the whole deep connections thing.

That response from the dev sounded weirdly passive-aggressive since all I was hoping for was some internal consistency with the stated premise.

The only dudes in this game at all are a few shopkeepers, thats it.
The brothel is just a place to hoard some girls you can train and get lewd scenes, it´s already pretty packed since last update.
I think you have 4 girls there, 3 maids, one femdom, a secretary, and a hot half demon/angel girl.
others than that, the world is already packed with hot girls you can dig on to get hot scenes...... it´s at least 8 atm that you can date, and a few others you can get animated scenes with.
you can crawl the dungeon and there are a lot hot girls there, 2 of them you can recruit for the brothel (1 maid and the femdom), so playing gets rewarded you could say.
there are all sorts of characters, some easy, some hard to get....but i guess it shouldnt be too easy on every girl.
So if your concern is any kind of NTR aspect, you don´t have to worry at all.
the game is fun to play, and i personally must say the images of the girls are incredibly hot and detailed and the animations stunningly flawless and high quality......the game is a feast for the eyes in my opinion.
So if you are into that you should give it a try, NTR wont be a problem there :cool:

Thanks for the kind game synopsis. :) "i think it´s 5 atm that you can date" Actually, there are 9 completed girls with the full completed NSFW dating story lines that lead to the complete CYOA style intimate scenes. Also there is 'Friday' on top of that - who is pretty detailed in her own way. The new girl Jessie also has a semi-completed NSFW story line .. though she doesn't have the ending sequence yet. There are 16 girls with paths that lead to animated NSFW sequences. Plus an 'epic dating sequence' for Abby.. which include a combination of animated scenes and images. Then with the brothel girls, there are currently 4 trainable (training in kissing, oral, cowgirl, doggie, missionary, anal, and special skills - each with NSFW scenes), the S&M Dungeon queen, 3/5 maids, Azariel, and the Manager/Assistant all with their own story lines and NSFW scenes. There are the dungeon minibosses, all with their scenes, the dungeon NPCs, Pixie, Muse and Auriana and her two sisters. Sabbath the Witch, Police officer Becky and Evangeline , Nerida the bath maiden, Vera the Barfly all with their NSFW scenes. Then multiple small encounters , prostitutes and dungeon encounters around the game :)) Then there are many more random NPCs that currently don't have scenes yet. I think over 8 detailed decent quality minigames, 3 dance videos - and all kinds of locations :)) And I would like to say .. NOT a single other man's Penis in the game... BUT .. that would be a lie .. because we can't forget THINGIE!! :D

Ohh you're still following? :)) I'm flattered! Thank you for your incredible insight and wisdom! So far people haven't complained about the prostitution that is in the game at this point, (V0.4 already has a planned interesting update about this!), but it is good to know you are looking out for them :) Who knows, maybe if you try the game you will find something that suits you too!
