It appears there are a lot more loose threads to wrap up before the 0.30.0 finale, so I presume updates go 0.28.3, 0.28.4. 0.28.5 etc etc.

Not sure about that, to be honest. The issue is that I do not actually follow the game actively - I have it sit in Lutris and start it up if I feel playing a FMC lewd game.

But I can say that we a currently up to 0.28.2 so the next update (not hotfix) will give you us main story update.

Hey can anyone say how the game has developed over the last few months? I remember the game being an absolute blast in the beginning but then they somehow lost their main artist and then the drawing quality dropped significantly. Did it get any back of its former glory, or is it just all lame futa stuff now?

Most of the art has been redone in the newer style and imo it looks a lot better. Afaik the "newer" art has also been the actual main art for years now. The development of this game is at a snail's pace as others have said since we're going on almost a decade in development. I know there's one whole big questline devoted to futa content, but actually a couple of patreon whales evidently paid for the developers to add in a ton of bestiality or something way back so most recent updates seemed to have been focused on that.

I've played a good chunk of the questlines, but still have a few unfinished ones and just put it on pause for now. There's a good amount of content in the game overall, even if a significant amount scales heavily towards bestiality and then futa, but the amount of what appears to be half finished story ideas and seeds for future content arguably dwarfs the content already there if you look at it big picture. Ideas for going to the other islands and probably even back to the mainland continent and all these unfinished story beats. The main story content is also miniscule and so far from completion, it's hard to even quantify how long it will actually take for that to finish or what the endgame really even is.

Temple gets the second to last quest in 0.29.0 (the finale is planned for 0.30.0)

Just to possibly prevent a misunderstanding, I think the 'finale is planned for 0.30.0' was related to the temple quests, not the game as a whole.
I'm not on the Discord to look it up, but as far as I have gathered here from other posts, I doubt 0.30.0 is supposed to be the final game version, that still seems far off.

I can't even get the game to boot up for some reason. I have tried multiple versions from multiple distributors, I have tried to run it without WINE, with wine, and from the console with wine, I have rebooted and reinstalled multiple times, I have waited for a sum total of about 2 or three hours for it to load, and all I get no matter what I do is a black screen with white text saying "Now Loading..." and nothing ever loads.

Does anyone have any idea why this is?

Misc information:
OS: Linux Mint
GPU: integrated
The game boots up, does not crash, does not ever load.
I have waited upwards of an hour without interrupting the process just in case, still nada.

Have you tried increasing the volume in the Options menu?
