umm, the creator did say that the reason why nonpatrons get the game 30 days after a patron release is to find bugfixes. Which they might be doing now

The issue was explained by me two posts above yours, if you are able to contact the dev somehow to give them a suggestion, and if you care to do so, of course.
On another bug note: the widow during the mercenary questline has a bit that's supposed to reduce defiance but it reduces depravity instead (defiance is tied to the attack stat in code).
Sorry for stating this here, but as a non-Patron I pretty much don't have any other opportunity, and this bug is pretty easy to miss.

Getting a manticore tail is locked behind a 9 Defiance check.
So you're locked out of 3 quests if you don't have it (Mercenary and Sally's by extension + alchemy)

Totally agree. The stat check system is becoming a hindrance to enjoyability, and makes the cheats more of a core mechanic than a means of quality control.
I think this game is trying to be too many different things. I'd suggest the dev(s?) finish the main story arc of this game so that they and we know what this game actually is, then all the extra quest content/locking will start to have more meaning and context.

I think you have to add the old saves of the old game to the save folder of the new game

I always freeze after becoming tipsy in the first town after escaping "refugee camp" in this newer version. Blank screen with only a notification saying Claire is now getting tipsy and frozen there. Also the new update does not recognize earlier saves from prior version. Even after visiting updater. Force starts new game.
Press enter, just left clicking doesn't work. Had the same problem
