Having learned a little bit about proper game development myself, this game is absolutely cooked in terms of progress, as the development approach is completely backwards. This game frontloads so much art and animation without implementing the systems needed for the game to flow appropriately. I understand considering the lead dev is an artist first, but the whole game should mechanically exist first, with bare minimum debug and placeholder assets, and THEN get an art pass for visuals. There’s no telling how much is on the cutting room floor in terms of art for a game that isn’t even system complete. If Spurple is properly paying people for all the art work, that 15k or so a month is getting eaten up BAD, I would assume.
