No its not a big issue. And no - you're not starting an argument. And I didn't use that phrase to be disrespectful towards another game as I love it as well. Instead I used it out of respect for this one, cuz I know there was some drummed up animosity due to the comparisons. Not looking to start an argument or anything (seriously), but the 'game that shall not be named' - is it really that big of an issue?
I like them both, and while they both draw from similar stereotypes (basically a requirement for a college game) I think they 'feel / read / play' rather differently. (ie; this game is too different to the 'other one' to just be an 'inferior copy' or whatever argument caused the problem in the first place.)
Like I said, I enjoy them both, they're both well done as far as I'm concerned.
There is no-one in DIK I love as much as I want to spend time with Riley or Aubrey. So that's a huge win for CK. But there are many aspects of DIK that make the game more engaging at times with mini-games etc, and the art is sometimes better and the dialogue and shenanigans are sometimes more hilarious or entertaining.
But CK has it's charms that win out as well in it's own right, is just as engaging in story and plot, and really well written side-characters with some really deep backstories. (I wish I knew Riley's a little more).
Early on the animations in CK was inferior, but not so true anymore. Both are amazing and fun, and I thoroughly enjoy both, and there are certain NPCs who I despise in both (Tybalt, Charli) adore in both (Sage/Josie, Riley/Aubrey), and drool lust baba crazy over (Lily/Envy, Nora/Lindsey) in both. The only aspect that I think DIK has an advantage over is the sidekick friendship with Derek (shirtless guy) is far more enjoyable than those with Ryan and Imre (or as I call them - Bevis and Butthead).
It obvious and inevitable that people are going to draw comparisons, and correlations between the two - just as fans do/did for Avengers and Justice League.
