I would've said this game started out on the 'same as others' path (specifically, the game that shall not be mentioned as stated in the OP) and in the process of trying to be unique, it veered off into something uniquely disjointed and uniquely buggy.

Not that obvious! Emily is an example. She cheated on the MC and that caused the break-up. There's also Lauren who gives her a second chance! I'm not even talking about other VNs, but this one in particular.

Most girls will not want a friendship after being cheated on, some can salvage a friendship especially if it started as one, but a few crazy ones like Emily you should stay away from. You can't assume all girls are the same or compare a whore to a faithful girl with morals.
Most stories, especially those in the romantic area, draw from real life experience. My advice is to go outside, get some sun, and meet some real people. Who knows, maybe even meet a real life girl. Because it is obvious to anyone who has interacted with the opposite sex and has had 1 or more girlfriends.

You can say what you like about the game here ... but what I definitely like about the game ... that you don't have to wait 15 months for an update and nobody bothers you with math problems!

At some point they lost their writer, which it never recovered from IMO. Then they switched to a "season 2" that was essentially nothing more than a cash grab and they failed to maintain the progress from the story from the previous season. which made it all seem disjointed.

At some point they lost their writer, which it never recovered from IMO. Then they switched to a "season 2" that was essentially nothing more than a cash grab and they failed to maintain the progress from the story from the previous season. which made it all seem disjointed.

of course ... but .... if you don't expect anything, you can't be disappointed ... the game here hasn't disappointed me so far ... i had a few hours of fun and have paid 0 dollars so far .... i can think of dozens of hollywood movies i paid good money for and came out of the theater frustrated

For the last few months, my only answer to that has been "plaay a different one."

There are some path-builder options that still let me play a functioning game but a lot seems to have gone wrong somewhere.

Fair point, some people will forgive a cheater, but some will not. This is entirely realistic.

A lot of people don't like realism in games, granted...
