Shopping the ring does not properly end. You can buy it, then click at "back" and then the only way of progressing still is "I got nothing!". That seems to result in not having bought the ring but having paid 1000$ nevertheless.

EDIT: It seems the game realizes the ring later when you buy the second thing (the bracelet, I guess), so you can send the ring then. The expected events happen, only later.
