Nah, thats 100% wrong. Even terrible animations improve a game massively. I rarely touch games that arent animated, might as well read a book.

Animations can be nice but they don't add anything fundamental to a story driven game - it's like frosting on an already tasty cake. They always take more time (often large multiples) to create than still images, so the volume of game content that can be produced in a time period will be lower.
In my opinion, I think I'd rather have Color of my Sound story progress at a higher rate than get animations.
In the case of a game which doesn't have a strong story line and/or attractive character art, then faptastic animations would be one of the only ways for it to stand out.

Everyone has their own taste and opinion. But CoMS is probably not for you, as the dev has stated he does not plan to add animations, at least not unless (until?
) the game is successful enough that he could pay someone to do that part of the development grind.

Couldn't disagree with you more. Watching the wrong parts of a person move or when they don't even look like the person they are supposed to is a huge turn off. Whatever floats your boat though.

So I have finally found some time to play this.. I am very very impressed! Amazing job!
-Beautiful world building. I even red the Codex, which I never do, so that says a lot.
-Very interesting characters. I love it when each characters act like they have their own interest, likes and agenda and are not there simply to interact with the main character. Very good.
-Amazing intrigue.
-Art is also very well done.
My one critique is the lack of music. In my opinion, music is absolutely essential to set up the mood of a scene. And given the quality of the rest of the novel I do believe including music is the way to further push it up. Other than that I don't have much to say.
I put it on my list to support when releases come. Any chance of including itch.io as a way to support it? Other than that, please think about steam. This novel would do well.
Kudos to dev and hope it becomes a very successful one!
EDIT: from what Cabin Fever said below, the lack of music might be a choice from dev according to story. If it is the case, I would really like to know why. Unless it is a spoiler. Then, I guess I will learn in the future.

I think one of the dev's post in this thread explained why he chose to not have music. It's missing for a reason that fits the story.

Ohh I would like to know that.
The main character did say he has some trouble hearing music, anymore, that he can only hear noise. Maybe it is related to that.
Unless the reason is just outstanding on the story, though, I tend to believe music is really essential in a good VN. But I will give the benefit of doubt!

Yes, the lack of music or more specifically, MC's inability to hear music, is directly related to the trauma he experienced on the day of infamy and his traumatic experiences during the war that followed. As you are likely aware, MC was a budding young musician prior to those fateful and tragic events.
As a retired professional musician, I have made several suggestions on how MC's altered perception of music could be demonstrated in game and still include a sound track. I even offered to help find royalty free music to use for said soundtrack however none of those ideas resonated with the dev who has a rather specific vision for this project. I can certainly respect that and appreciate that POV. I could not bring myself to tell another artist how to create their art. I do make suggestions but they are just that, suggestions, never demands. You are merely asking the same questions that many of us have asked ourselves so you are in good company, my friend. I certainly appreciate it when a dev has a specific vision and executes that vision on point. So many devs just put up one patron poll after another and rarely have an original thought of their own. That is not the case here, fortunately. I am a big proponent of devs telling the story they have and want to tell rather than story by committee vote! Hahaha
This dev is delivering their unique vision in a very special way. There may even be music coming on the horizon but it is too early to tell at present. This AVN has been conceived and executed on a masterpiece level thus far IMHO. I long to see more in time. I hope my little input here helps you...
