Am I reading more into this....It seems like the race of the mc is changing. in the beginning, he was white, but now he is almost black. Did I miss something?
As far as I know, the developer was the one who made the render, I got it from DiscordThis was already posted on previous page - DevinHesi stole a march on you!
I think the world of Elysium has particularly high UV levels in it's Sun's radiation, and without Mommy Lana to remind him to put on the sunscreen because he's out there CHASING THOSE FLOOZIES, he is just tanning really quickly.Am I reading more into this....It seems like the race of the mc is changing. in the beginning, he was white, but now he is almost black. That you have this expectation is understandable but also quite sad. There is no reason at all not to have backstabbing and betrayal in a harem. Often developers think only a state in which everyone is content and happy is proper harem. But imho that's a lack of creativity rather than a rule of nature.1. Tonal whiplash by the game starting as cynic depressing spy drama with betrayals and murders VS it ending up as a harem game, so all love interests are expected to end up harmless.
The definition of harem is that all participants know and accept each other. If they are enemies/rivals fighting for the harem makers affection, it isn't a harem and the harem maker is cheating on all of them. That you have this expectation is understandable but also quite sad. I'm fairly sure that all REAL harems in history were fueled by constant infighting and/or competition. For the simple reason that the harem builder and his/her time and energy are scarce resources, so fighting for attention and affection is not avoidable. It's just that we have this very specific and pornographic idea of a harem. Also, I don't think it makes a lot of sense to talk about "ideal" harems, as this can be something different for everyone else. There might even be men or women who'd enjoy infighting and backstabbing to some degree. Like some people enjoy a competitive environment in companies, because it makes everyone work harder. The definition of harem is that all participants know and accept each other. Your ideal of a harem of rivals sounds like wanting to have the cake and eating it as well. You either have a conniving story with the girls betraying each other and the MC or you have your happy end with all of them putting their disputes aside (because rather than being horrible persons, they were all just tragically misunderstood and abused by the actual villains anyways).
The problem is your lack of imagination.Tonal whiplash by the game starting as cynic depressing spy drama with betrayals and murders VS it ending up as a harem game, so all love interests are expected to end up harmless.
Did you know that the CIA once recruited one of Fidel Castro's girlfriends to assassinate him but she ended up telling him about it1. I think harem is a fascinating topic that isn't explored in a serious manner enough in media. It's often used as wish-fulfilment fantasy and comedy. For a more tonally serious story like CoMS, the concept of harem can be explored better through the eyes of the females. The inherent imbalance of the status quo has a lot of potential when it comes to conflict and growth. That you have this expectation is understandable but also quite sad.
