It would be incredible if the scientist to whom the protagonist gives the genetic material discovered a way to make humans, or at least some humans with compatible genes, replicate certain abilities without needing a connection to a dark one, especially regarding longevity. It would be fantastic if the protagonist could, through this discovery, extend his life beyond what would naturally be possible. I don't know what the developer is thinking, but since options in that regard have been added and a scientist pursuing that goal has been included in the story, perhaps the game will eventually achieve that result.

Hello there, I did a bit of research on past posts but didn't find an answer so I'll ask and try my luck.

I'm not sure it's on my end only or if everyone experiences it too, I seem to have a volume issue with musics from the game, to be more precise the volume level doesn't seem to be equalized (not sure if it's the right word), meaning sometimes the volume of a music is quite low, barely audible while for some other musics it's a lot louder, forcing me to constantly adjust the volume of my speakers to enjoy the audio of the game. Is it a known issue or is the problem coming from my own system (pc on windows 11) ?

It is game. I have it too. I'm just not bothered to post about it. I'm playing on low sound. Increasing only if something catching my ear. Yes, game has this flaw. It do need more polish in terms of sound level. But, considering how it go with animations graphics, and developer after reading criticism about it, increased development schedule in about 3 time, i'm not sure it worth mentioning. Let him cook.

Oh, I was not complaining, I do find the audio part of a VN to be the cherry on the cake, important regarding immersion, entertainment and mostly, memories (how many times do you hear a song and think about a specific memory/feeling tied to it), and there is song here, music, effects, it's not an abandoned part in the development, so I was hoping to learn of a way to fix that on my end, but I do enjoy Companion of Darkness anyway, very much, don't be so defensive ahah.

Samuel is selfinsert of autor, AFAIK, represent god-like being of life/light, or sorta. God of humanity. He uses his agents on earth like Ghost to preserve status quo, balance. Where is habitable world will continue existence. When Nael or DarkOnes interferes to the level of treat to such balance, he intervene. Balancing entity to Nael.

As to "why is he a mc lookalike?" Well this twist is not explained fully yet. Mb he just assumed form of most powerful alive and mortal being allowed to enter Nael's realm, mb something else. Nothing is clear yet.

ed: I dislike this omnipotent divine bullshit, but, i guess, it has to be there. To draw the existential limits to supernatural powers.

Sam is going on and on about balance and Guardians as his means, and Ghost is mentioned that she is a securing balance and her powers been granted by Keeper of Balance.

Also Tessah, probably, 'fall from grace' exactly for this reason. She was, probaly, created as first, or among first Guardians, but got addicted to euphoric emotions, lost control of herself and disrupted balance. Keeper and Nael made a deal where Tessah was deformed into Dark One. And eternally subjected to Nael.

Noel, in her encounter about pardoning Eda, parring that Tessa has criticized her "artificial" creation by her sister and reminded Tessah that she is adopted into the family, so to speak.

*References to yin and yang and fallen angels*

But. Nothing explained clearly yet. It is just my assumptions from couple of lines in game.
