So, I asked for engines to make a netorase game well over 3 weeks ago I think. I'm currently working on it and I think I landed on using RPG Maker. And fo course I want to ask you pleople what do you think because at the end of the day the people that comes here and have come here is more or less all of my intended playerbase. But well, here is the question. Aside of character sprites for dialogue. You all can play a game that uses sketches instead of complete renders? Something like what I'm going to send, but I will add some more details to them before putting them on the game:

As I was working on the project I realized the shit ton of work that will be to make the CGs and I'm not ready to make full renders of those all by myself while making the game. Hentai_Kishi has been helping me with a lot of things on how I should approach game creation and I'm incredibly grateful. But yeah, after tinkering about and starting to make the art by myself it's really hard work so I was thinking on making the art sketches and maybe on updates start rendering them.

PD: I just noticed the comment didn't upload correctly. I added that I was thinking in doing very basic coloring. I think the art of Black Souls is pretty much on that train of style. Sketchy art with very basic coloring and shading, maybe that is a good way of still having an efficient output and maybe render the pictures in the updates. Welp, I'm happy to hear what you think.

I think sketches, with a few more details as you mention, could be acceptable. What I look for in a game is a good story, but also to make (somewhat) meaningful choices. To be able to steer dialogue and events in whatever directions the developers lays out for us.

Moving around in a hand crafted RPG maker-world can be quite immersive, but how dialogue and story is handled in certain games leaves a lot to be desired. What I don't like is having to spam SPACE or ENTER forever, reading drawn out and boring dialogue, before the story moves on or I can make a choice of what to say. Long cut scenes that leaves me unable to save is also undesirable.

RPG maker can work, you just have to develop with the player in mind. Is this boring, is this not immersive but instead railroading the player, is this annoying, can this be done differently to make the experience smoother?

Yeah, I more or less think alike. I'm doing the art right now and I think I will just make the CGs as good as I can with the time I have. I would use them without color or with color depending on my workload, I think I won't think too much about it anymore. I'm just one man doing this for fun, I shouldn't be picky with the art.

So yeah, I will just make what I can and give myself more time to work on the gameplay aspect and the story, it will be more like a Visual Novel, so I will need to work well on the sprites. But yeah, I need to really think about how I will branch the game with the choices and how they would affect the world. I can't do something too crazy, but I at least need to make choices that greatly affects the protagonist and my main cast.

I'm thinking of having fights of course, that's why I want to use RPG Maker, but I don't want the game to be grindy, so I will still have to work on that. I'm thinking on several important fights that will be accompanied with cgs, so I don't think I need a crazy combat system, they should be more narrative fights. But of course, I will work on that nevertheless.

Maybe something like this and just get on with it.

I came(not as cumming but as arriving haha... silly joke) for an update.
First off, I decided on twine 2, Rpg Maker is just too much work for a beginner like me that just wants to make a story and not go too deep in an over-complicated sandbox game. Though, I'm still planning how my game will play because I still want some variety for your descicions.

Don't get me wrong, RPG Maker is not really a hard engine. But for a lone developer that believes in paralysis by inaction, that shit will make me struggle with deadlines because of all the art I should make (Sprites, sex 2d scenes, no sexual CGs, and more). I will just end up making a ton of work and never releasing anything, so yeah, Twine 2 will be. I'm not the best writer grammar wise and prose wise, but with the help of grammar tools and the famous Blue Book I will spare you the pain of going through it and gauge your eyeballs out. I have been told to be careful with Grammarly though, so I suppose I will just have to be
thorough with what I let it correct… or just use another tool.

Art wise, well, this is a bit surprising even for me, for some reason I think something clicked on my artist brain as I journeyed to find a style and some degree of consistency. So... pretty much the art will be like this:

I don't know, I think it looks good enough. What do you think? And on another note. Should I make a development threat? I'm already up to 12 000 words. So I think, I think I can release the first part of the game at the end of the month, I don't actually know though because I need to make like six more CGs and make at least 20 000 words for the introduction and of course, bringing it all together in Twine, and not get fucked by life… I'm still getting used to the workflow.

Are there any similar games like "My Italian hot wife" & "Blurring the walls"?
Both games were extremely hot with lots of teasing and slow burn without directly jumping to sex.
