Is this game worth bothering with? 7 years in development with not alot to show for it, my list of 'to play' games could use a clean up :BootyTime:
worth playing? yes. and surely you jest about "not alot to show", they've put out quite a lot of content between the different versions of the game.

worth buying? depends on your budget. my budget is -410 in most months so spending any money is kinda a big consideration lol. I typically wait for the devs to feel that any given release made enough money so maybe they'll drop it here in the thread. I'm ok playing outdated versions, the fact I can get it at all and don't have to go looking through seedy torrents is great.

wait a minute..this game is still being developed despite flash being dead? wow, that's pretty cool.
Flash never died, google just thinks they killed it. lots of people still use flash. I'm in a flash enabled browser right now lol. in the end it never should have been a company mandate that forced flash removal, it should have been a user decision whether to use flash or not, just like when the fbi told us javascript was dangerous, they didn't rabidly remove it from all browsers, they just advised us not to use it unless we had to.

google only forced it's removal because it was standing in the way iof their new html5 dynamic content method from taking over the internet and thus allowing google total dominance over the browser market. it was purely business so that any webbrowser that wants to read webgl and google's own brand of javascript had to install google spyware into their browser. which google uses to sell user information to advertising companies and governments..

ironically the fbi warned us javascript was not secure, and google warned us flashplayer was not secure, so they created html5 webgl with javascript (which is insecure).

progress from my 0.22 save was all lost. oh well. trying to find out if theres any differences. first thing I noticed is this is not a patreon $'s version. oh well again.

"allow flash player access to local storage" prompt on save. declined. the previous version did not trigger this warning. copied text as per usual.

it's a hacked copy of 0.22, seriously. Delete. I do not suggest anyone download this file. it may be a virus if you allow it to access your local files during save. it has no new content anyways.

Well, flash hasn't really had any real development for a long time. It's not dead in the sense that people can't use it but it is dead in the same way Windows 7 is dead.
Also, as someone who has had to do web development I cannot put in to words how much I hate javascript, modern web development is a trashfire; we need 10x the processing power to the same things we could do in the early 00's and security has arguably not gotten better at all.

The prompt "allow flash player access to local storage" is the flash player asking for permission to create a save file. It does this by saving a small file to your hard drive(local storage). Saying no will prevent both the autosave and normal save functions from working. Hitting save will still generate a password code which you could still use to load the game but no data will be saved to the PC itself.

If you're ever worried about the game being tampered with in some way you can always download the game directly from me on itch.io

Here are the patch notes for version 0.23:

Patch notes:

  • Added a new fox cosplayer
  • Added a new quest and reward with the new cosplayer
  • Added 7 new enemies to the forest.

Changes:

  • Reworked the skill system, you now gain max HP and MP on defense and attack level up respectively.
  • Greatly increased the amount of skill XP gained in general, and increased the bonus skill XP when attacking/getting hit by a character who is higher level than your skill level.
  • Gems have been reworked and have had their power massively increased.
  • Tweaked many UI elements.
  • Critical hits now ignore the targets armor.
  • Weakness hits now ignore half enemy armor.

it was definitely tampered with, first it took forever to start up, second when you finish ivy's dungeon it says "this is the end of 0.22" where the game claims to be 0.23, all content in the game was reset to the start of 0.22 as well. so yeah, downloading it directly from you versus a torrent is a better step. especially considering that "0.23" in the torrent is just the free 0$ release of 0.22.

well, nevermind lol seems the same as the one on itch. so.. I guess I was just being paranoid.

Just as an FYI... the torrents from rpdl.net get created from the download links in the OP, so if there's any tampering, those would be equally affected. And the F95 staff would have killed those downloads if they contained anything other than what the dev released. On top of that, when converting the download to a torrent, it's again scanned for unwanted things.

Not to mention that we wouldn't even be allowed to post such announcements if ever there was any chance of it being tampered with.

well yes, it ain't actually dead. i just meant that that's much harder to access now. but yeah it def should not have been forced for everyone to remove flash, same with ublock as well with what's happening now with manifest V3. just with different specific things being targeted.
