It's strange there's no update here, it's been over a month since the patreon update on the 16th of June...
Yeah, I'm not surprised he hasn't been around, it's just weird that nobody else has posted the last update here.Whale Shark hasn't posted anything on F95Zone since June 6th (Last month before the update), he did give warning and say life was busy for him.
I totally agree. I love the writing and story so far... it is easily in my top 10 at the moment.Yeah, I'm not surprised he hasn't been around, it's just weird that nobody else has posted the last update here.
Honestly, I'm surprised how relatively little attention this game seems to get on here compared to some others, I feel it's definitely one of the higher ones in terms of quality of what's available. Maybe it's the inconsistent releases and communication.
In the past (besides the last update we recieved) whale shark was the person who provided the links and sadly for a game with such good writing and decent choice in models its not massively popular.Yeah, I'm not surprised he hasn't been around, it's just weird that nobody else has posted the last update here.

Chapter 3.2 Content Update!
Hi Everyone!
It's here! Chapter 3.2 Content Update! And, in classic WhaleShark fashion... It's a few days late! Hooray! Seriously though, what did you expect? OK, before you go and download it, here's a message I hope you read:
This update has SIX major branches, but which branch you see is determined by some of your past choices. Normally, I don't like to spoil things for you all, but because this update is a little opaque when it comes to which choices determine your path, I'll give you a little hint: The choices you made yesterday (Friday) in-game, mainly the lesson you chose for class and the choices you made at the party, those will largely determine what path/branch is available to you in this update. So if you want to experiment and see all six branches, that's where to start.
Also, I've alluded to this before, but with the increasingly complex web of different paths that is developing as we progress with the story, I would recommend that you start keeping multiple saves at multiple points throughout the story. That way when you want to go back to redo certain choices to see how they affect paths in new updates, (like this one), you won't have to go all the way back to the beginning. With that said...

Conversely, my main (pretty much only) complaint about the game so far has been that the dev has decided to make content mutually exclusive for no particular reason, such as in the last update where you only could see two of four possible scenes depending on what arbitrary order you went to the shop and school in. With this increased branching, this tendency seems likely to escalate. I have no interest in keeping track of multiple saves, so that's just more content I'll miss out on.From that comment, this could the turning point from whether this goes from really good writing into a really great game. It's been pretty "visual novel" so far but if the impact of choices plays out well then hopefully this game starts getting the attention it deserves.
That's fair. I can see that being frustrating if you want it all the content in one playthrough. This ways better for me though. I'm only interested/attracted to around a 3rd of the women this game so it's better for a player like me. I can have meaningful choices while focusing on the characters/content that I like the most.Conversely, my main (pretty much only) complaint about the game so far has been that the dev has decided to make content mutually exclusive for no particular reason, such as in the last update where you only could see two of four possible scenes depending on what arbitrary order you went to the shop and school in. However this is the dev's decision for how they want to design the game; it doesn't appeal to me, but not every game has to.
It's all in the execution. The game the dev said inspired this was College Daze. College Daze (without mods at least) is very much a case of missing lots of content depending on your choices. But that's part of a game, right? You can't make every choice available to you. But College Daze does it so well, and each branch is interesting, it makes replaying the game well worth it.Conversely, my main (pretty much only) complaint about the game so far has been that the dev has decided to make content mutually exclusive for no particular reason, such as in the last update where you only could see two of four possible scenes depending on what arbitrary order you went to the shop and school in. Yeah, that's where our tastes differ. College Daze is a well-written game, but I abandoned it early doors because I have no patience for it's innumerable branches. It's all in the execution. That's fair, I guess. I'm more on the fence and I like variety. Like I enjoy Bimbo Life Coach and it's hard to miss much of anything in that, but then what you end up with is a very linear story where your choices don't really matter. Or Become Somone, where you can get basically everyone in the game and that's the aim, but there's essentially no plot. As long as the game does what it sets out to do well then I might get into it.Yeah, that's where our tastes differ. Yeah, that seems like a healthy attitude. That's fair, I guess. I'm more on the fence and I like variety. The criticism with BLC at the minute is mostly that the new updates don't add much and are completely focused on the one character that no one likes (with little progression for her). Become Someone is exactly as you say, but I'm okay with it. I've meant to check out Root of Lust but I was going to leave it till there's more content.Yeah, that seems like a healthy attitude.
I don't want to take up too much of the thread with this as it's scarcely relevant to anyone else, but of course meaningful choices are great where they make sense (as in the Brutality/Empathy choices in this game), but personally I've no interest in branching just for branching's sake. The dev explicitly wants content to require multiple playthroughs to see, which isn't a design philosophy that appeals to me (as opposed to just making things mutually exclusive when logic requires it).
Of course games change over time and there's no telling where this will end up: I don't think I've played BLC much since the new dev team took over, but it's my impression that they've removed a few of the choices it used to have; I may be wrong. Become Someone started out as a slightly more ambitious pitch with different paths, before quickly lapsing to the (somewhat tedious imho) collect-'em-all game play it has currently.
There was another game launched recently that seemed really promising but (for me, sadly) tried to mimic the College Daze structure, but for the life of me I can't remember the name. Edit: Ah, The Root of Lust, that's the one. Recommended if you like that sort of thing.
