Sure, although I've got to rethink how I do that. I'm already at 1.5GB or so after only 2 chapters. Well, plus the prologue I guess. Eight chapters left to go. I can reduce the size of the images a bit without sacrificing too much quality, but there will eventually be a limit. Mega only lets you download 5GB daily for free, and other sites have similar limits as well. I really don't want to split this story up into multiple parts just to meet download limits. A number of titles have tried and I don't think anybody has done it very well--Ren'Py just isn't built to handle that situation. Another solution might be to separate images/animations into separate downloadable packs which makes it an installation nightmare for newbies. Still thinking through solutions.You spoil us Snax
Joining Mega is only five GBP per month, still under six bucks USD. I joined rather early on and have a full TB of DL each month, no daily limits and over 400 GB of cloud storage. It's also pretty fast with the subscription so I use Mega a lot! GOFILE, RACATY and MIXDROP have no limits that I have found and PIXELDRAIN recently upped the daily limit from 5 GB to 10 GB. So, the daily DL limits are not a problem at all. The services I listed are the ones that I trust. The others are sketchy at best. As long as you upload the file to a variety of sources to allow folks a choice, file size is only a factor for Android, AFAIK. Android is capped at 3 GB as I understand it. I originally wanted to build a version with 2K or 4K renders, but the file sizes quickly put an end to that notion.
On the plus side, I calculate I'm at about 50% of the way through chapter 3 now which includes some nightmarish animations. As in, nightmarish for me to produce, not that they're nightmares at all. Well, one might be considered nightmarish...

Just playing devil's advocate. This community can be notoriously stingy. Or poor. Over on itch.io, Confusion has had almost 2500 downloads under the "pay what you think it's worth" category. To date, a total of 3 people have contributed, one of them for $1. I don't mind--I'm not in this for the money, at least not yet, and I'm trying to build an audience. But if there is a free way to do something, it's just human nature for people to naturally gravitate to that solution in lieu of all others. I mean, look at where we are. I'm just trying to keep an eye out for my audience.
I guess YMMV. I paid for a Mega membership a while ago because I was running into the 5GB limit if I wanted to download more than one or two VNs at a time. And of course, now I host on Mega so... Gofile, Racaty, and Mixdrop can all be, well, not too slow, but I've had lots of dropped downloads and SLOW downloads on each of them. I guess it depends on how busy their servers are or how far away you are from your local switch. I'll only use them if a Mega version isn't available. Besides, the reason why compressed versions exist is that most people's internet service is relatively slow and 5GB, let alone larger, takes a long time to download.
True, but most Steam users (90%?) aren't there just to play VNs. I have 1.2Gb service so I don't mind large downloads, but I can't even begin to imagine trying to use it over a 12Mb "broadband" line. I do want to produce a Steam version of Confusion once it's complete, btw.
Well, gee, thanks! I don't mind mindless fap games, especially of certain, er, genres. They're certainly easier to produce. But that's not what I'm trying to do for Confusion. I have to believe that there are folks that don't mind a serious story that just happens to have some hot sex scenes in it, as opposed to most VNs I've played where it's the exact opposite (lots of sex scenes, barely a story if any). The problem for me, I believe, is that some people can't reckon the difference between the two categories.No matter how large this game becomes, I will stick around to play it. I have a bad track record with compressed files that ranges from bad to worse so I avoid that kind of thing. Not really. Writing needs some work and the dev needs to do a lot more research before they can really do any of that work. The artwork is only okay. While it doesn't stand out that's not necessarily a bad thing as art styles can stand out in a bad way. I think focusing down the writing side would do a lot of good though as well as researching all of the subject matter from as many sources as possible.
Not sure where you got this from. The MC struggling and crying is probably the strongest image in the game so far.

Confusion is a story about a real trans girl, not a futa. Futas are total fantasy, not existing in the real world. So, this isn't what you seek. However, it has been a heart felt journey into what it feels like to be different in a judgmental world. We might encounter some dom/sub play at some point IDK but I do not foresee any heavy BDSM. It's not that kind of story.
