Saw the last few pages regarding lawsuits and such, but I'm pretty sure I remember the dev announcing on their patreon they were going to quit due to a mix of personal reasons and one of the team members leaving/passing on. Something along those terms. Can't check now since the patreon page was deleted.

Edit: Found an older post with the announcement. This update was just the final update they promised since mid-last year. Also just realised the talk is about disney in general rather than just this game.

Unfortunately, the headline is what you think it is. I can no longer continue the development of Conquered Hearts.

I've had some substantial life changes that I won't get into but it's drastically reduced my time and energy. It wouldn't be right for you, the team, or myself, to forcefully continue at a much slower pace, so I've had to make a tough decision; one that I've been very reluctant to accept. Unfortunately, I can no longer force the time and energy without impacting my life.

The next release will be the last. I'll continue development solo at this point to release what's left... It's still quite a bit of work and I'll be pressed to find the time, but it doesn't feel right to hold onto the complete art.

I've paused the August billing, as I have no need to pay for art anymore... And I'm happy to refund any new donors for July - just send me a message.

I want to thank the team, current and old, for their contribution... and I sincerely want to thank you, the followers and supporters, for making this game with me.

I have a save file from 0.13 and there is so many exceptions and bugs its literally impossible to advance the tiny addition to the story

Also if Disney Corporation sues and loses... it's a really big deal, because that opens up the door to anybody else wanting to "parody" them. IP cases are super super super dangerous for big companies because you can lose. And they do sometimes lose, because regardless of how good your lawyers are or how much money you've thrown, it's still the judge making a lot of calls and then 12 randos (if it's a jury case).

You're right, most crime goes unpunished because it'd cost too much anyway, but you can tell Mike is full of poo. He's doing the "tough criminal" talk, as if he is a professional criminal. He's an amateur at best. Hell, he may never have gone to prison. You can make stuff up on the internet. Anyhow, I'm going back to manage my multi-billion porn company. Tah tah now!

I heard (from previous posts) this was one last update but the tag was due to the dev himself not having a spine and caving due to Nintendo legal threats and stated he was discontinuing development. A dev himself stating he's abandoning it (presumably from his own Patreon or Discord posts) is probably the best reason for an abandoned tag. At least it wasn't like AOA Academy where all the dev's online presence was deleted without warning or explanation and allowing the rumors of what happened to run wild, which also will get an abandoned tag pretty quick.

Okay I been quietly just reading the posts and had a laugh when it was said the dev caved to Nintendo threats when the parody is based off of Kingdom Hearts which that's licensed to Square Enix which is doing the games now for Sony. The last that I recall SE did for Nintendo was Chrono Trigger or Secrets of Mana after those..and Sony got rolling with the better visuals prior to Nintendo Switch S.E stuck with Sony which really threats from them would be a bit more serious to take into account.

They deserve to go bust. This was a scam and besides decent sprites this game had nothing going for it. It was boring AF.

3 1/2 years. THOUSANDS of Patreon dollars and this is the result? What a nightmare. Better keep the names of the devs and team members in mind and make sure every project they get involved in knows about this one.

Does anyone know whether the old designs for Aireth and Tifa were used at all in any of the game versions or was it just the new designs were the only ones used for the game versions

Exactly: they spend YEARS doing it because it takes that long. And I've been doing it for years (pretty much since I was a teen with internet access just out of juvie where I met my first business partners). I'm obviously not worried, they probably just put me in the troll bin with a billion other flagged posts a week and carry on eating their donuts while trying to avoid paperwork. And that's not sarcasm or a joke; the last few school shootings actually point to that since the shooters announced their plans all over social media weeks or even months before actually doing it. 35k FBI agents vs 5B internet users (a significant % of which are like me and don't give a fuck) = good luck. The terrorists, crazies about to go postal, CP producers, Silk Road admins, and other bigger fish that have a higher priority than me are keeping them pretty busy. Even if caught 2 more would take my place until I got out again. It's why bootlegging DVDs and Blurays aren't really prosecuted anymore; they simply can't be bothered due to the sheer number of people that ignore that FBI warning at the beginning of every one. Same applies to people that torrent movies and hide behind a VPN to keep ISP's from snooping = too many to do much about. And I'd bet if there were suddenly 10M AVN devs that didn't give a fuck and had no fear of Disney and Nintendo while torrenting their creations they'd be able to do little about it for the same reasons. Sure, a few would do time eventually, maybe, but prosecuting 10M people would be very very expensive (100's of billions of dollars, more than Disney and Nintendo combined are worth as of 2022), never mind the court time and backlog of cases for decades. As unlikely as that is very few things would make me happier.

It's a mediocre experience. The Alice in Wonderland (the tutorial level) is definitely the best because its complete and has a small point-and-click gameplay experience as well as a whole bunch of scenes.

The Final Fantasy or Mulan one is where things fall off, though the art is definitely the better aspect of this incomplete game.

My overall impression is pretty poor because i've been following the game's development and i had to go through every single thing to experience the latest content because of the dev's inability to allow the game to load save files from old versions. But for a first time experience i was pretty happy with it.

Well I saw the art plus noticed that its a crossover and decided to download it, started the tutorial for now and it seems pretty good for a abandoned game, since most of the abandoned ones i've played had a lot and a lot of bugs or contents not working. I initially supported this game on Patreon but backed out after it became clear they weren't listening to their supporters, and the issues within the team. I'm pretty sure them receiving a C&D is bullcrap. There are many Disney porn games, manga, videos, and some of them are considerably more popular than this, yet none of them ever got contacted by Disney and they are still going on strong. We hated the redone artwork of Alice, and then they said that they will revert back to the original, but that never happened. One example of many many things. The updates were never consistent, and I don't mean by time. But by what they offer. It became very unclear where to go, and what to do. What they should have done was focus on one story at a time, per update. Instead they were all over the place. Add a new scene here, add an element there, further a story somewhere else, added another thing in a completely different unrelated place. Every update became infuriating.

Some games are better off laid to rest. This is one of them. I do hope that they learn from this, and who knows? Maybe create a game that is worth while. I wish them the best of luck. But, abandon this, learn from it, and move on. If they do want to revisit the Disney/Kingdom Hearts format, create a brand new game from scratch, and maybe consider getting someone to write the story for you.

Yeah, I was reading the posts too and this thing of Disney contacting is full bs, thee was a issue within the team that produced the game from what i readed, dont remember if a member passed away or something and then the team got separated.. some more stuff after that and this is the result. And as far as catching small fish, as I said before sometimes they can't even catch big ones even when they announce their intentions on social media (never mind some pirate AVN site) months beforehand not just in text but with video as well (Nikolas Cruz, Feb 2018, look it up, and that's not the only example). No, they stuck with the new models since the beginning. With Alice, she looked more like her Disney counterpart initially (but obviously all grown up), now she looks like Madonna in her state. And let's be all honest here, Madonna in her current state is enough to give anyone nightmares. Imagine waking up to that every day.
