That's the obvious, decoy trail left by the Dev to make everyone think he's the obvious culprit. Watch any whodunnit and they all follow the same formula. there's the obvious suspect, then two or three other viable alternatives, and finally, when the real culprit is revealed toward the end of the show, there's always a subtle clue revealed that was presented in such an inconspicuous manner that most people miss it.
Can't remember did it show Leon get a text from X between the kiss and sex scene? If not then that may not be the red herring people are assuming it is and might be the actual clue to who X is. One of those make it so obvious people will think it's fake scenarios. Again won't find out until near the end or at the end probably.

To me if he didn't get a text it shows that he is more than likely X. Which would fit into getting revenge in the end as taking down X would mean Leon, so 2 birds one stone.
Theoretically, Mr. X could be Alan's father! But Alan's father was too decent a man to die and rise again for revenge! Again the point I'm making is that IF Leon did NOT get a text from X telling him to go to Clara's room at that specific time/point that more than likely he is X. It would be too much of a coincidence for him to just show up at that exact moment after what just happened and get her to cheat on Alan. Yes Leon has been trying to get in her pants which should already have been a red flag to Clara since Leon was supposed to have changed from how he was in Alan's past(if your trying to prove your a good guy to someone you don't go around hitting on/trying to seduce his wife). Does he call himself or just receive texts? Remember he did something with the computers early on as you stated, that he made Ana not say anything about. Could be a program to send the messages or calls from/through Alan's computer to frame Alan if they get traced back. Set Alan up to take the fall by making it seem like he is X. Makes Clara leave him since she will think he's behind all the things she has to do from X, along with all the other things Leon is doing in person, as well as implicate him in being the mole. I mean it's a typical plotline but so far most of this story has been. Nerdy, little dick, impotent MC who can't satisfy his hot wife. Assistant who loves and is trying to make the MC fall in love with her. Macho big dick rival/bully from the past who has sex with and tries to/is stealing the MC's wife. Hot wife who appears to be strong, intelligent and faithful, but truly isn't, cheats on MC and has moral dilemma about it while being corrupted (usually when people see she isn't what she was made out to be). All of that is typical in NTR game tropes/storyline. Dev added X as a means for the corruption and to add mystery to the story. How many people would still be as interested if it was Leon openly trying to corrupt her(showing his true colors). Also with him doing it openly it shows how truly dumb Clara would have to be to fall for it all.
