IF say both parents were killed in an accident the kids then inherit the debt. I can't speak for other countries and how things work there but can say that the US has some screwed up laws concerning that.

So knowing that, committing suicide wouldn't excuse the debt only make it transfer to another. Sounds more like an excuse to tell the son of why daddy killed himself. Maybe he found his "loving and faithful" wife fucked the person destroying him and it pushed him to suicide, that would make mommy the person responsible in that case. Think mommy is going to tell Alan I caused your dad to kill himself by cheating on him? Dad lost everything but had his family still, he finds out about mom's cheating and maybe Alan isn't his child, that would push someone to commit suicide after having everything else taken away from them since he has nothing left but betrayal from the person he loved. That's complete destruction of someone's life. Trying to prevent bankruptcy isn't a reason for suicide as you'd still have your family and can start over.

Grace can play out many ways, she can be trying to "redeem" herself by getting revenge for her husbands death on the person who destroyed him or she sees the same thing happening to Alan and is trying to prevent that, possibly both once she learns everything that has happened. She feels guilty that she was the cause of his father's suicide and is now trying to prevent the same fate for Alan, not yet knowing Clara has already fucked Leon, putting Clara in the same position she was in with the father. Will she push him to forgive the cheating wife or help him get revenge? Personally I'd vote for revenge but the way so many other choices and things happen in this story it's more likely she will convince Alan to be Clara's cuck/simp and forgive her.
