Then again, I still have no clue on how to measure the public view of CoC2. Here it's disliked, on Forums it's adored, afaik, not sure about 4chan or other big communities. I don't know if people here are minority who dislikes the game or not. Plus, it's important to remember that people in general are waaay more prone to complain than to praise - I doubt a person who has a great time with CoC2 will come here to praise it... but if they had an awful time, then... well it's only a matter of time before they leave a complaint post.
Every now and again you see a dying gasp in the other communities.
The footprint on reddit is nonexistent and most discussion of people about the game in passing

Heh. Tobs is apparently the 'fox cuck'. Ha.
A few years ago you'd have people going to bat for the game in general. Not so much now.

4chan had a general that slowly died as the quality of the game declined and TiTS went on conversion hiatus and they ran out of things positive to say so every thread was just a negative feedback loop as they circled the drain.
The twitter footprint is nonexistent at this point and is just the discord community + a dozen or so artists retweeting their commissions/fan art.
A quaint very old small forum I visit went from positive to dismissive over the course of 2 years.

Most of the communities for other text based games both here, on steam, and discord range from neutral and apathetic to hostile and dismissive. While discussion occurs in the most sterile phlegmatic method imaginable, usually revolving around the "can't compare" and "offers something different" non-committals before the conversation fizzles out.

Generally it's not a good idea to gauge a games quality by ever directing with any of it's 'main' communities.
Babylon's Fall, massive flop that it was, had an extremely positive 'main' community on reddit, discord, and the steam forums. So does Forspoken now that I think on it. I owned both. (Please, save your jester emoji's for somebody more deserving.)

Nobody is going to go against the grain in an active conversation on most websites due to aggressive dogpiling. This website included.

Yeah, it's actually ironic - the worse the game is, the more positive it's community tends to be, probably because it's a minority that understand their position and does their best to be welcoming towards those are also interested. Meanwhile, some great, popular games have awful communities because they attract many assholes and it becomes a toxic cesspit.

Didn't know there was a sequel in the making, but its going to have to wait at least a couple months or a year before you get anything, first one was rushed and TiTS just didn't feel as good, maybe because they are getting too ambitious, but hopefully this one is going to be as good as the first CoC.
Can I get a dbz recap, I remember Helia's Granddaughter who existence made it canonical that Coc1 champ went corrupt and tried to groom her. Are the rabbits when he pulled a "But thou must," and put like 5 resolutions that get shot down immediately for no reason but to give the illusion of choice

Why you people hate Tobs so much? He's like, one of the most prolific and consistent writers CoC2 has.

Also, booting every writer You don't like, is not gonna fix anything.
He writes entire college thesis' and calls them sex scenes.
He wrote some of the worst and most insulting content in the game in the form of the kitsune, more specifically, Kinu.
He talks in a very obnoxious intellectual know-it-all way to anyone who criticizes him(Well, all the writers do, Tobs just stands at the apex of it... well I'd say Bubs outclasses him, but he's just an asshole) and just looks down on people who don't like his content.
He wrote an NTR scene of Brienne, a character who has nothing to do with that sort of content.
He frequently admits that a lot of his content is just spite content.
He just blatantly hates his audience.
And I'm probably missing more stuff but that's the main reasons I can think of for why people think he's such a cockwart.

Wait, is that a defeat scene? Hasn't philosophy of "You lose -> Everyone gets raped" been there from the very beginning of coc1? What's so special about this particular scene?
-Wsan, Brienne's writer, didn't consent to it being put in the game, in fact he didn't even want it in the first place.
-Brienne is the only notable monogamous companion in the game and is considered the best companion in the game by some people.
-The scene itself isn't really written to be sexy, it's written to make the player feel awful.

Ok, when you put it like that it does sound pretty bad.
Since I try to never lose and alt+F4 whenever I do lose, I didn't even know this scene existed. Now I wonder how many more awful defeat scenes I'm not aware about.

There aren't that much more. There's Savin's minotaur captain scene which is equally not all that hot but despite not being that good (they're making brienne moo and the like) had a few percentage points more of class.

Everything else is whatever.
The new mushroom dungeon just turns you into a mindless broken rape victim in the most unsexy manner imaginable.
Every fight in Dracia leads to you get horribly abused by Alissa regardless of who defeats you. One of the scenes is pretty alright and then nope, abused by Alissa.
There's a handful of loss/band ends where you just die. (The ring of fate's harpies, the assassin, whisper, almost all the bosses in the Temple of Challenge)
Hmm. Upon reflection the bad ends for like the last 2 years have kind of sucked.

That's a mix of a few things really. When the games bad the community is smaller and if the community is that small outsiders are less likely to stick around.
As negativity can be mentally exhausting to constantly read, the small (bad) game communities become a bastion of hope for like-minded individuals. Which is why you had people palling around for Babylon's fall semi amicably (all the way until EoS at least).

Gets a bit awkward sometimes though when people recommend bad/dying games. 3rd Birthday is like my guilty pleasure. But if somebody came to me and said, "Hey, I like Parasite Eve; would I like Third Birthday for the story?", the answer should absolutely be, "No. Absolutely not. Stay away."

Maybe SKoW's wayfort maids are the only things I think unreasonably suck.
What's wrong with the maids? I've seen some people complaining about them, but I don't know why. I usually just ignore the wayfort, so I'm out of the loop.

Most complains about the Wayfort as far as I get it is that the NPCs there randomly pop-up making it feel like you're playing minesweeper rather than being in a hub, not just the maids but Farah, Dracia and other Wayfort NPCs in general.

For me? Few things personally. Bit of a grudge, really. I've got a bone to pick with the entire implementation though.

So when we first got them they were:
Initially implemented without a single sex scene with the PC.
Are random wayfort encounters which are like landmines with few enough variations that it exhausts itself in a few visits and hits awful monotony from that point forward.
So without the player so much as getting a scene at their inception you've got:

The bee/guard flrting
The plant/guard flirting
The bee/plant love 'voyeurisms'
Two PC "teases"

Which would be neat in any other context except you've implemented one of the highest in demand fetishes that exists and excludes the player character from any of it. The teases had less effort put into them than one getting herself stirred up by another.

Then we finally get the sex scenes a month(?) later. Was it two?
And...!~ they suck! And not in the sexy play on words kind of way.

Maids are like the infinity gauntlet in porn games. You've got the power to do anything.
And my mans did nothing.
