I went through all of Komari's sex scenes and I have to agree with my fellow pirates. Not enough eroticism, and I actually enjoy BDSM. What a disappointment.

Really now, why the hell would the writer make the champion struggle like a moron if we chose to participate? It's like reading the point of view of someone being actually tortured. Why is my champion not enjoying it?

Honestly, I'm completely sure Tobs would've satisfied me a lot more. He has his problems, but I enjoyed Kiyoko, Rindo, Kohaku, Miko and Mai.

Thing is, they're not writing for the players anymore, they're all writing for themselves. Its their kinks and fetishes and its long past the point where its gotten tedious.

There's the answer to the $64,000 question. I gotta agree, they really just kinda write what they want to now; you've got to hope whatever you like happens to align, and most of the time, it doesn't. I was pleasantly surprised by Komari, which... now that I think about it, probably says something about me, but I can see where the gripes are coming from. Kinda sucks.

- do Evergreens quest to access the Kitsune den
- free Kiyoko (get the Amber Orb in the Kitsune shrine, impregnate the fox in your dreams, check on your new daughter once, tell Komari about the Orb to free Kiyoko)
- do a single other Kitsune quest e.g. battle some puppets as a test for Rindo
- then talk with Komari to see the Flirt option
additionally, there's one Komari sex scene where you have to be a Kitsune yourself

You don't have to free Kiyoko to get Komari's scenes. I never even touched her amulet and I can bang granny just fine.

I'm obviously not the intended the target, but even then it would surprise me if anyone could enjoy that. The Illusion Play, as Edaltar said, sure, but with the way the rest is written you could just swap Komari for a rack and a fleshlight and it would all read the same.

One line about the Champion losing it 2.7 seconds post insertion -> 3 paragraphs about the pain with barely a mention of Komari and none about her enjoyment -> choke, the end

I will say, on the forum if you look through their community contributor suggestions they make it a point to say "Prioritize your fetish while writing" which under normal circumstance would be fine, but as far as im aware theres a fairly large backlog of content submitted by the community that is still under review due to just how thin the actual group is and that theyre all essentially doing their own thing. Honestly imo the issue can easily be solved by either scaling back on brand new expansions and focusing on what is already in the game or getting a sub-team specifically for reviewing content assuming there isnt one already.
To me it'd just be a whole lot easier to just sort through existing content expansions like moth girl rather than every single submission, entire new areas questlines, etc etc. It essentially makes a bottleneck where only a few things get through every now and then that are usually works of the already decorated writers creating their own fetish scenes

The problem is that they're locked in an echo chamber. They don't take to criticism on the forum, constructive or otherwise. I used to be on there and it was often difficult for the writers to admit that they made a mistake or maybe took a wrong turn. And sometimes it felt like they saw someone pointing out something as a personal attack against them.

There's prioritising your fetish, which is a fair stance to have, its something you want to see, but there comes a point where your fetish starts to push others away. The prime example I've seen is the kitsune colony and Kiyoko in particular. In the case of the latter, you help bring her back to life, reunite her with her retainer and earn Keros' favour. And literally everyone in the colony, including your own daughter, treat you as something that got dragged into the colony on someone's shoe. They're polite about it, but no matter what happens, no matter what the Champion can do, that will never change.

I get that Tobs likes Japanese culture, but there's no need to copy everything about it, right down to the insular attitude. You can do so much for the colony, but when the best you get is cold acknowledgement, it's offputting to say the least.

It's very much going to remain "What the writers want, the writers get" and what they're going to find out one day is that they'll be the only ones wanting to play it.

It's very much going to remain "What the writers want, the writers get" and what they're going to find out one day is that they'll be the only ones wanting to play it.

Yeah, no they won't. This game has a firm foundation within it's niche, a niche that it doesn't have any real competition in, as such it's basically secured itself a large enough audience to keep on going. It's Patreon is doing well and it's done well on Steam.

Contrary to what people HERE in this echo chamber think, this game is doing fine(hell, it's updated and added more content this month alone than most games here do in half a year) and will continue to do fine barring anything disastrously damaging.

He didn't even do that right considering that much like Commodore Perry or MacArthur the Champ beat their asses and nailed em to the wall, they're now reliant on their status quo not the other way around.

Becoming their patron deity's special snowflake should just cement supremacy as it seems Keros does want something of a political shakeup.
