CoC2 is great and all, but I still have CoC nostalgia. CoC2 is more like a TiTS-version of CoC...
I liked how the areas in CoC where a lot more vague, without tile maps etc... And generally speaking CoC just still seems better to me, all these different classes and more complex leveling and crafting systems detract from the story elements of the game, i feel like CoC had a more compelling narrative, even if the game mechanics were more flawed (like how you could level all attributes to 100 fairly easily), dunno may just be rose tinted glasses

Did you ever try the fan updated version?

A few people got together and finished off some of the loose threads they left and added some extra content.

I think you're fairly on point actually. The whole travelling nodes unlock is unnecessary and frankly a waste of time if I want to get straight to the area I want to. No, now you have to not only unlock it but also wander around the map each time you want to revisit. Instead of giving options to find a specific encounter a player wants now not only you have to get to the area the encounter happens but also wander around and hope to find it before your energy and hp run out. It's not necessarily bad design but certainly an unnecessary obstacle.

Also it's not hard to notice that the majority of encounters so far are female characters. It's only a marginal improvement over the futa/shemale stuffed tits. Plus it still needs a whole lot more encounters in general but that - thanks to the map design mentioned earlier - will take longer because they firstly need to add map areas where those encounters happen. For example if they wanted to add minotaurs in a mountain area they would have to add not only the mountain areas but also a path to get to it. That's just hindering the process if you ask me.

I wouldn't mind having corridors to travel for a dungeon, but I don't really like having to wander over the whole map in CoC2, even if it is more convenient than tapping a location and hoping I find what I'm looking for (Tel'Adre, Phylla, that Desert Fountain, etc.)

Combat-wise, I liked Fall of Eden's system of handling encounters better. I can keep exploring until I fight what I want, or I can toggle debug and force an encounter with the enemy I'm looking for.

Hey so I downloaded version 2.1 and unzipped the file but I've run into an issue. Whenever I try and run the damn thing it just gives me a message saying that "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running". Is there a fix for this or do I have to rip out my Windows 7 OS and upload Microsoft's latest spyware?

I'm so glad to see others feel the same as me on this. I WANT to like this, just like I wanted to like TiTS (and do, to an extent) but the two just seem like there's way more hoops in the way from me going off and finding the content and secrets and such. Not to mention the characters somehow seem more strictly written, but also less interesting and authentic at the same time, maybe that's just a symptom of the same problem though.

Thus far I don't really have a problem with the characters, though that's mainly because I've been spending most of my time getting railed by Brint or Arona I do wish there was a bit more meat in the game so far. It's probably just an issue of things still being at the start.

Besides, I'd rather have a smaller number of characters rather than a bunch of characters that never get finished, like the original CoC. I remember being sorely disappointed that some content, like the lips lady in Tel'Adre for example, just died off without a conclusion.

Yo, can anybody tell me where the hell my save file is?

I've been searching for hours and I can't seem to find it.

Edit: No, wait never mind. I figured it out.

When I talk to Ahmri about her village, there's no button for me to progress past her dialogue

Well, as avid player of CoC, TiTs and being probably one of the people who are in it for the plot more than the "shot" (don't get me wrong, I do my fair share of bedroom pvp in the games), here is my current opinion on the origin:

Thank god for part 2!

The premise seems promising, characters are actually written well and there is plenty to explore.
>On maps, introducing the TiTs moving system ir both boon and bane. It kind of removes the feel of randomness of trying to hit tha one specific event (for example, raiding desert in original CoC to unlock the ant princess questline) and instead you just have to walk there (for example, kitsune shrine is always in same place.) On other hand, this does cause some trouble with wanting to be prepped for serious fights. If I wanted to, I could always hit the boss dungeon immeadly with good health. Here, depending on rng, getting from city to boss fight can tax you quite a bit. Luckily this isn't just a big issue since there is camps you can set up for on map sleeping and healing.

>Dialogue options have clear warning more often than not now! I kinda disliked picking options just to be nice/out of curiosity and then ending up with "whoops, gotta get laid now" or "here comes mod for you." (again, I don't mind always but I have had few reloads because looking at machine caused me to take something up my ass. Not fan of that tbh)

Good example of this is Sugo's last option, where it literally states "this will most probably end up with one of you fucked."

>COMPANIONS! I feel like hero leading party now, not just adventuring father when my lovers stay back at base. I also appreciate we aren't stuck to keeping companions if we do not want to. Like, no one is forcing you to take Cait or Brint even to begin with! You can just go be lone hero if you want challenge or something.

>For now, characters seem to have variety. I do agree with lot of people on the dickgirl invasion on Tits. There is... A lot of that option. I like how characters are fleshed out to have personalities so far. Reminds me of Good ol' CoC and also helped me figure why I actually preferred CoC more than TiTs most of time...

>Can I just say that I love the new inventory screen? You see everything easily there, stuff is easy to manage (though I am still not sure how I should gear myself but that is just my problem) and the descriptions are easy to access. And not to mention we start with plenty of space. Hooray!

Overall, I will be watching over this with quite an interest. There isn't much to do yet but enough to spend few hours exploring and experimenting.

I would have prefered to have text boxes for moving around like it was in CoC or FOE. The way it is now already annoyed me in TITS and now it's here too.

The CoC mods are universally terrible. Not every bit of content but the way they're done always shows how clueless the people doing them are.

The most widespread one for example adds this completely superfluous three day prologue to the beginning. Its only purpose is to give """subtle""" """""""""""""""hints""""""""""""""" that, if I'm not being facetious enough, blatantly spoil the plot. That displays how completely unaware the person making it was of the perfectly succinct and mysterious nature the intro to CoC has. To be fair that's a lesson Fenoxo himself didn't learn, the TiTS into is both long and bizarre, but that attitude of trying to just stuff in more content anywhere is why the mods suck.

Plus when you get into them you realize that most of it is just people putting in all the murderboner options that got rejected or putting in banned fetishes like 4chins mod that's 90% pedo content.

It's way easier to find content in both TiTS and CoC2. The original CoC was an exercise in frustration when it came to actually finding specific encounters. Despite its many technical faults and frustrations CoC nailed the whole stranger in a strange land thing perfectly. -That's- what's missing from both the literal and spiritual sequels.

TiTS makes finding content -too- easy. For most characters it's just a matter of finding them on the map and then pressing the fuck button. Coupled with how homogeneous a lot of the content and it makes for a very unmemorable game experience. TiTS is essentially an amusement park where you can wander around to all the approved areas and see all the attractions (which in this case translates to "fuck all the shopkeepers"). That's...okay, but it's not a fun RPG.

What made CoC so memorable was how you flat-out never knew what was coming. You'd explore, fumbling around in the darkness with little or no guidance, and when you did find something or someone you'd never know what to expect. Nothing was standardized so each character (in part because no standards were enforced) was like a puzzle you had to work out and that's why it was fun. Even if a good bit of the writing was markedly worse than TiTS that's the "interesting and authentic" aspect you're describing here. That gave CoC a sense of adventure and discovery that hasn't been replicated since.

CoC2 is trying to be more of a game than TiTS is but it feels less like a sequel to CoC and more like a standard-fantasy monster girl (and a few token guys) game. The closest thing to a true sequel CoC had was Fall of Eden. It's really too bad that crapped out, it does a number of things better and just has more original ideas for mechanics than CoC2.
