The one thing we don't know is what the description was that went along with the art request. So the might've asked Cheshire to lean really heavily into the "furry" aspect, but yeah… the results speak for themselves.

I'm not one to judge a fellow artist here but seriously.......how did you go from the cute, milf like Gwyn on the left to....that thing on the right? I don't know if it's just me but....like, the one on the right just feels so out of place. I mean yeah, furries of course exist on COC II but they don't look like that, design wise.

I mean, my guess is the Cheshire art came first, right? I'm obviously just hypothesizing here—really I have no idea—, but since none of the Cheshire art is the "default art", it makes me think that they initially had Cheshire working on CoC2 at the start of the project, then decided that this look wasn't what they wanted, and that's where Moira came in.
Edit: Also, all of the Cheshire art is centred around Hawkthorne/the start of the game, which further points to that kind of explanation.

Cheshires newer stuff, now that she isn't working for these games anymore is actually pretty good. I guess she wasn't just that good when she had to chug out art in a fast pace. Which is totally understandable.
