where's the original of that pic from?
where's the original of that pic from?
Still could put the game on steam for free and it would cost them nothing. Steam only take money on transaction, no fees for hosting a game especially if it's a small one unless their politicies on free game have changed. One of their major points on why you should pay for a free version is the achievements. That and cloud saving (lol) is literally it.
they simply could have added the achievements as they was in coc1, straight in game. the cloud saving? not so great of thing. i for an example, play coc2 more time on phone then on pc.They addressed that they want to give people people a way to support them thats why it costs 10 dollars. Their community is very divded you have those yes-man with the whole "its worth it for the achievements/cloud saving" and those that see it as obvious cash grab.
that the point. when you support them via patreon and etc, you got backers build in return. steam support I see just like the one time opportunity to throw away 10$ for the already available free build and the whole lot of nothing. and what about backers? if I already support them monthly on patreon and I want achievements too, so I need to throw them another 10$ for that?I don't get the outrage, the steam version is there for people that want to support them outside of patreon, subscribestar, etc.
It's not like they're taking away the free public builds either so you literally don't have to spend any money.
Seems like a non-issue.
What if someone does not want to use patreon?support them on patreon for a couple of months with that 10 dollars
I feel that ultimately a similar point can be made about supporting them through patreon altogether.throw away 10$ for the already available free build
The save system for that actually wound up fucking over the other save system for the latest version of the most official mod.they simply could have added the achievements as they was in coc1, straight in game.
Why not using buymeacoffee? It only has a 5% fees not a 30% one. For a one time support there are many possibilities but gating free content + cloud save and achievements (not yet in place) that cost them nothing behind a 10$ paywall is not the good way to go from my point of views. What if someone does not want to use patreon?
There's also the thing that Steam will allow people who never heard of the game to discover it for the first time.I don't get the outrage, the steam version is there for people that want to support them outside of patreon, subscribestar, etc.
It's not like they're taking away the free public builds either so you literally don't have to spend any money.

well, then I repeat what everybody here wants to say. if he wants a new untapped players, why he makes it 10$ for a public build? why not make it free if he wants new players and not new money? There's also the thing that Steam will allow people who never heard of the game to discover it for the first time.
The people failing to understand why it was put on Steam are not who Savin wants to buy the game. He's aiming on new, untapped players.
and what about people from steam who doesn't know it is free? there no ever slight mention of it's free status on their siteSteam version has:
- auto-update with every public patch
- cloud-saving
- trading cards and achievements
Even people who know about the free version are willing to buy the steam version:

I'll take "shit that will never happen" for $1000, Alex.im so waiting to every backer abandon they money support, buy steam version once and look at savin who lost his money milking machine.
Most people against it here were arguing that it feels scummy and wondering why people would buy it for little incentive. Apparently some people will buy it, that's up to them, doesn't change the fact that some are still wondering why better incentives for buying the steam version weren't given.Good thing I never said that EVERYONE likes it. All I did was respond to the prophets predicting that absolutely no one will buy it.
why do you need latest backers? it was 0.3.6. and there is now public 0.3.7.Speaking of Backers Version, does anyone have the latest Backers Version?
Fairly certain there hasn't been a backers update since the public update.Speaking of Backers Version, does anyone have the latest Backers Version?
and it's 10$ just for early access. savin said on steam when game is out of it, it will cost even more.I'll say it once more, if it had been really cheap on Steam, I would have understood for every reason combined, including "Support us!" It's the $10 that's too much.
