I can understand that, it just makes me very uncomfortable when it's sexual in nature. Some part of my brain can justify Kenshi's slavery and skin peeling machines, but it can't justify raping some random innocent person off the street. I dunno, it's weird.DoL puts you in impossible situations, and it's up to you (the PC) to either charm your attackers into a false sense of security and then strike, just beat the fuck out of them, or just become a plaything. You can avoid rape entirely if you're smart. Think of it as a lewd version of 'Kenshi', the whole game is pretty much asking you the question of 'how far would you go to make ends meet'. Steal, Sell your body, or work honestly. It's all up to you.
Weird, that's basically what I've been doing. I'll have to open the game up and try to give it another go to see what's up with that. For Lust Attacks you gotta use them to get better at them/Use Flaunt to make enemies Horny so they're weaker to lust attacks. Also, using Restore Energy skills (obviously). I had a build where Karryn literally could not lose, even if I didn't use any Restore Energy skills lmfaoo The game has a high skill ceiling, but it's incredibly rewarding.
Also there should be more variation for sex if Karryn is a sadist don't @ me.
Big disagree. This is like saying books will ever go out of style. Sure other genres are more flashy and interactive, but text-based things will always have a place, even if more niche. I don't think there's a problem with games like this, just the decisions people make when working on them. The reason why they're not often done and can be easily fucked up is... well writing is hard. Really hard. It's already difficult to write something compelling and/or appealing in the first place but to also write things in a way that can actually get people's rocks off? Let's just say there's a reason most of the games on this site are boring messes. So when you make your entire game based around just this one thing, it gets even more egregious. You can't rely on gameplay or art anymore to help lighten the load.Honestly, games like this are a product of their time. It's really starting to show its age, most people are looking into more interactive games nowadays, just look at Steam and you can tell what the majority are wanting in hentai. I don't know, to me this project should have been wrapped up when Flash ended.
But to compensate for that, you can get way more in-depth with the actual... depth of things. You can flesh out your characters all you want, you can describe environments with no restrictions whatsoever, get as intricate with the plot as you want, etc. If you're good enough, there's no end to the things you can do when it comes to story-telling. If you create good and meaningful choices for the player to make, I believe that's all the interactivity you need. It's a double-edged sword, really. You're essentially just placing all your eggs in one basket and praying that that's good enough to work. It's a lot more fickle with adult games, but people will usually flock to good writing even if the experience is light on actual porn or has things they're not super into. Because at the end of the day most games can be boiled down to their story and the choices you make, whether that be story or gameplay ones.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
