Seems like this game is both popular and contentious. So that's... something. The first game was decent, but there really wasn't enough violence for my liking. In a generic 'magic medieval fantasy world,' I expect to kill people, not just knock them down and rob them or rape them.

This one have any violence, or even better, ultraviolence?

No, not even a little. You can't kill the fuxking enemies aside from imps and 2 unique demons, which pisses me off.

for me i see the killing option as a "putting them out of their misery because they are beyond saving" and this is due to the games explicit preference for a kind of outcome of "you saving as many people as possible".

Pretty much both coc2 and the first game were made with the idea of you as a kind of "savior". And allowing you to go on a indiscriminate mass murder spree would both be a kind of antithesis of that and was also never in the design docs.

now if you want to add it via a mod go right ahead if you can figure out the coding.

early on in unmodded coc1, you literally couldn't kill people (or die).
fatal wounds would regenerate in front of your eyes due to the massive amount of reality warping corruption magic all around you.

CoC2 though, is set in an uncorrupted world.

Honestly that sounds pretty cool. With a bit of work I could see that working well in a horror setting.

There is basically little in terms of pure sandbox hrpg to compete with it, but given that it's got what i call the discord server approach to production it's very easy for people to get salty about contributors. Ultimately it's mostly weird people writing for mostly weird people more or less for free, it's going to tbe rocky at the best of times.

Your ability to murder is limited to choice random mobs and some bosses.

Corrupted PCs don't care about being a savior though. They'd just care about furthering their own goals and I don't see why killing people is off the table when rape and forcefully changing someone's gender and giving them a chemical lobotomy is a-okay.

i guess to the devs the act of taking a life that is not 100% a lost cause is seen as a step too far. And to them it could possibly be seen as a mortal sin even worse then losing ones soul.

I will say that if they implement some form of actual killing mechanic they also implement a kind of bounty system which will increase with every soul you take. This would possibly function as an event where bounty hunters that were hired by the people of that region/area who randomly come fight you and as you killed more they would get stronger and stronger until something had to give and you get a possible bad end.

This could also play out as the people of each region/area try to actively avoid you even more then usual and make comments behind your back wishing for your death.

Pretty much there should be an additional stat called something like "soul blackness" that such violence increases and cant be removed without save editing or starting a new game.

There are 8 unique enemies where you have options to straight up kill and two generic demons that can be killed from what I've seen.

I think it's more likely a combination of too much work for too little reward. You'd either end up with an uninteresting system where you can kill half the continent but no one responds to it, or seeing progress slow down even more than it already is as they write a ton more variations for each area. We've already seen how this tends to go with the flood of mainstream games with moral choice systems around the 2010s, lots of fairly forgettable games because the narrative had to accomidate both the white knight and the puppy stomper.

Just give me the power fantasy of mass effect-esque renegade interrupt in most long winded npc dialogues and I will be content. God knows how many times i wanted to shank a bitch when talking to someone.

Random thought, do you think coc2 would benefit from stages system or its too sidequest heavy to account for all the flags that would require. I remember how much pain in the fucking ass was getting to the ice sharks home content, had to do all of that Gweyr questline to get to that. Fucking why is that random ass fucking challenge cave blocked by that, was there any lore reason or they just wanted more people to meet their "I am very deep fem NPC" ?

They were aimed on casual gamers, which doesnt want or need complicated 'roleplaying'. You killed Hitler? You did a good thing, heres your +5 to karma. You spared Hitler? You did a bad thing, here is your -5 to karma. Simple and easy, both for gamer and for developer/writer. And also hyped popularity of DnD with it chaotic-lawful and good/evil alignment.

CoC2 also made with a thought of casuals, both furries and gamers. I mean, generic CoCII players will meet 'Canine dick, covered in slime, with a duo of knobs at the base and a sheath' with something like 'Oh yes please!!! Give me two!!!'.
But 'Canine folds, in a shape of a fortune cookie, with a translucent string of a lube hanging from it' will be meat with something like 'Are you fucking sick fucking motherfucking fuck, for fuck sake??? Get some fucking help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111oneone FUCK!!!!!'.
Same with moral choices, more 'game' thing. Player is able to do 'good' things, as in others casual games

Honestly I really wish the game had more variety as the one encounter in the game that really struck a chord with me was the Frost Pupper. Best girl.

I wish there was more corruption in the game cause you know for a game called corruption of champions the only times you get to corrupt someone it doesn't really seem to have any consequences

The real reason is most enemies are unique or borderline unique npcs (like they don't got names but you know its the same chick) that their writer didn't want to write a death scene for. Like who the fuck is going to write you murdering the bat muggers or the manticore girl.

The enemies who you get to murder are basically either wild animals or turbo hitler evil. End of the day this is a porn game and you don't murder people you defeat you put your dick in them.
