Very sensitive, he hates the ideas of mods because even the worst of them tend to be better than any slop he or his orbiters churn out. Its basically like showing a cross to a Vampire or silver to a werewolf or other similar things, he's weak to it, only in this case its because it reminds him of how shit his current content is and has been.

Well, I guess I should try and set the record straight on this. Let me preface this by saying that while I am friends with Savin, I’m not saying this on his command, nor do I intend this to be entirely exculpatory; but he did legitimately try shoring up the corrupt hive content.

I’ll be clear: I’m pretty late to the party, at least as a writer; even as a community member, I only really showed up around 2020. But I can say with confidence that the Corrupt Hive’s sorry state was mostly a stopgap for promised content, that never ended up materializing. He’s not kidding about writers expressing intent to flesh it out, then disappearing. There’s been a LOT of faces that just disappeared over the five years I’ve been around. That stopgap turned into a holdover as time went on. The last thing the corrupt hive got was, genuinely, something Savin explicitly directed Tobs to do, in order to give it SOMETHING for content, and that was Love Knight Bimbo Azzy as an enemy.

Lessons were learned from that disaster; Corrupted Khor’Minos exists solely as a handful of futureproofed parsers, never so much as implied to exist without ripping up the floorboards to check under the hood at the code.

So, do I think it was handled a bit sloppily? Yeah, 100%. Do I think there could have been a cleaner solution? Sure as hell not any I can think of. Savin was kinda holding a shit hand for this, and this was the best way to play the cards. I guarantee you that hindsight is 20/20, because a LOT of stuff was learned from development of this project.

Then again, I don’t really have a horse in this race, since I don’t jive with corruption content. I guess I understand why folks are upset, but I personally won’t be holding this against Sav. The hive was always a bit of a dumpster fire, and at least now it’s out, you know?

While I understand the frustration that likely came with people joining to do something and leaving, this was still a situation of his own making. He took on a sequel to a game with a focus on corruption content knowing he and his main team didn't enjoy corruption content despite keeping the title and marketing it as corruption. He created the circumstance and just hoped someone would come along and do it for him. And I was on the official forums for a while and the bounty for hive corruption content is new knowledge and clearly wasn't advertised. As for sorry state that's subjective but I'd argue that while it was lacking in content, it kept a specific brand of content that people originally came to this game for. Additionally most of the lacking content seems to just be related to Azzy not being a companion. As it is now the pure hive is also lacking in content. Additionally his view of "if you like the corrupted wasps don't do the quest" is a poor response. Unless there was something in the code that was messing with stuff, the corrupt hive didn't negatively impact the game. I never saw anyone complain about it, though I admit anecdotal evidence isn't great evidence. Ultimately the hive is more empty now since no one wrote much if any pure content for it.

So, do I think it was handled a bit sloppily? Yeah, 100%. Do I think there could have been a cleaner solution? Sure as hell not any I can think of. Savin was kinda holding a shit hand for this, and this was the best way to play the cards. I guarantee you that hindsight is 20/20, because a LOT of stuff was learned from development of this project.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree, this was the worst possible solution. Unless something in the corrupt hive code was causing problems, it would've made infinitely more sense to just do what he's done for other lacking content and label it feature complete and move on. A pure option to remove Liaden is the only aspect of this makes sense. To borrow your metaphor/analogy, Savin played cards he never had to play. This update was completely unnecessary but in a way that is overall detrimental. And given what is public knowledge about the review process, I have to wonder if anything written would've been accepted or if he'd reject anything submitted due to having already made up his mind. He's been talking about removing the corrupt hive for years. The hive, both corrupt and pure, was a controlled fire that burnt nothing. He threw gasoline on it and made it a dumpster fire. I realize I don't have insider knowledge or know the code, but given how outspoken and petty Savin is, if there was a legitimate reason outside of "he felt like it" to remove it, then he likely would've said so by now.

Sorry, this really doesn't fly as an excuse. You can't advertise a game based around corruption, then hire a bunch of people who don't like writing corruption and hope the community bails you out. And it's not a surprise that so many writers bailed Savin's awful attitude and management. The community submission forum is basically dead for both games now, which is damning for what used to be community driven games. Coc2 is just a playground for Savin and friends' OCs at this point, so much of the content that gets added is npc on npc it's hilarious.

I guess it'll forever remain an unsolved mystery why people keep leaving. They can't possibly be constantly getting harassed and bullied by Savin and his clique. Hugs and William never were part of the team anyway, and surely deserved everything that happened.
That was a huge load of sarcasm, clarifying for Savin's bootlickers.

Anyways, people leaving isn't the issue here. The problem always was and will always be Savin's refusal to make corruption content for a game that is supposedly all about corruption. You know, it's almost like it's in the name: Corruption of Champions 2. Very counterintuitive how the lead dev hates corruption, as if he is unfit to not just lead the development, but even just working on such a game in the first place.
I am sure we all would have been much happier if Savin didn't parasitize CoC's legacy, and instead was writing his own little fanfics about dickgirls having anal sex with eachother.


You know what this hive fiasco reminds me of, actually? Helspawn situation. Just like back then, Savin promised lots of great content to come, but never did anything before abandoning the plans entirely, and then had the audacity to get angry and offended when people reminded him that he never did what he himself promised.
But there is a difference in that now he didn't just leave a blatantly unfinished project to rot, he decided to erase all of it completely. Does he genuinely think everyone will just forget about corrupted hive? No. I personally will keep bringing it up to any newbies who show up, to mock Savin at every opportunity I get.
