you can get spells you cant use yet
this includes spells beyond current max lvl
which is nice because you get to see what you will be able to use later, or you could save edit and mess around with it
but it also sucks because it bloats the power list with something you cant use yet
Yeah, imo the mirror stance is just incredibly annoying, borderline bad game design. Firstly you have to defeat the giant and do convocation of mirrors dialogue tree every playthrough, (please god let us auto complete that and orb puzzles after doing them once) in particular before you fight synneva, who has the first missable power I'm aware of, the banshee wail. Then you have to have it nearly permanently equipped, to reasonably get abilities and avoid the few that so far are permanently missable. Even then you also have to avoid wrecking bosses too fast.

If you're a tank, it's a subpar tanking skill but it gets the job done ok, if you're not, then it screws with aggro and forces you to waste a slot for it. Tanks need ability stealing the least, too, they don't care about majority of damage abilities. Wiki isn't updated well, game consistently gets updates, so it feels like you always need it equipped so you don't miss out on something, unless you've already done all current content and are just end game grinding for money for the orphanage etc. Would be better off imo as like a drain ability rip off from ffx where you damage enemies lightly, maybe lightly heal and learn their stuff, more universal that way.

Ability bloat isn't *that* bad since they've got nice filtering tools, but I think they could have benefitted a lot from being able to upgrade existing cards instead of having so many side grades or abilities that ARE just straight up better. Like leveling a white mage would get you heal, then later a great heal that replaces it, instead of having both, multiplied for every ability. It can make people confused when instead of like the ff/persona style system of fire>fira>firaga, or an attack and very obvious upgrade, youve got like "smack", "tackle", "overbear". There's a lot of junk to sort through and at some point during gameplay updates, scaling is shown really weird. There's some abilities that scale with multiple stats that isn't communicated well, like some charmer abilities scale with presence but don't have the color representing that, so it makes capitalizing on stats more of a pia than it should be

IMO the skill card system is one of if not the weakest system in the game. It was just a bad idea from the start.
"Funny" thing about this system
its heavily stolen "inspired" by 4 edition D&D (which Savin, Garde and SKoW play/played)
4e D&D combat is considered bad and a lot of people despise it...
so of course they felt inspired and decided they had to have it

Well that explains a lot cause 4E is hot garbage. Of course 5E isn't much better but people are going nuts for it for some reason.

Because you have to, or just play a complete game like 3.5E or Pathfinder 1E instead of Hasbro's latest cash grab.

I've never understood why Hethia isn't an impregnable option. By the time you get to the Winter Palace she's basically screaming she's down for whatever if its you. I wonder why....It almost writes itself if you think about it. X character redeems herself on this dick. Classic stuff

So, I heard this game can't be modded to add new events or turned into a whole new game like Xianxia mod?
Is it because of the spaghetti code or is it something else?

It's been ages, just go Kitsune and look for a shrine attendant in the deep woods, she sells gear that you might be interested in. As for weapons, I think the Harpy Queen's staff has the strongest spell power, but I personally like using the spell blade from Dominika. It's easier to get, but it's slightly weaker. Don't forget to pick up some of the enchanter perks, so you don't burn turns buffing, and the perk that changes Might to buff Intellect instead of strength.

Ive tried looking on the fandom and went through every perk list in the game, nothing mentions might or even how to get might on the wiki it doesnt say anything about how to aquire it either -.-

You get might by reading the black book once you pass an intelligence check and learn a few other spells in the book. The easiest way in Xainxia is by buying it from the wondering trader named Giacomo, where you can find him in the explore option. Otherwise, some enemies drop spell books, or you could try your luck on the tower in Tel'Adre.

4e wasn't even that bad but the abomination that the ability setup in this game is garbage, you get too few to make combat interesting and fun interactions stop at grease+fire

I'm willing to eat a lot of crap, but still imo it's ok-ish. Two particularly dumb things to me though is that they repeatedly promised party "tactics" for some time, kind of stuff that's been in various games, like for example having a menu for Cait where you can prioritize her auto actions, ie priority 1, revive fallen ally, 2 heal ally below 75% hp, 3 aoe. Like scripts in dnd games. Then they shifted to saying companions would get kits, "just play full manual every fight lmao" and pushed tactics under the rug.

Therefore, the auto party can be very dumb. It's particularly egregious when doing stuff like sparring a high level azyrran, she auto ults after like 50% hp every time, generally acts smarter, makes her a lot better. It'd be nice if at minimum there were options like that for the party, particularly when the game was originally built for only PC manual control, and there's so many rest options "wasted" ults would be incredibly minimal compared to not using them at all. for people that just want ero stuff and/or play auto battler, that makes their experience worse.

Then, for people that like trying to min max or take it seriously a bit, as was mentioned, they chose like the most universally poorly received core dnd system. Also, been a while since I saw the post a dev made mentioning it, but long story short, the other flaw with their gameplay system is bosses can never be particularly complex, or have like changing behavior patterns in the same fight, which is probably what leads to the Mexican standoff fights damage wise, and weird fight interruptions like in Alissa's second fight. Haven't checked in game but I'd guess that'd probably be a clever way of replacing them with a duplicate, but with changed abilities to mimic a new phase.

It's dumb though because it either makes enemies that should be a minor concernTM, like lovecraft monster, very reasonably one shot, or like with Alissa, will randomly start a cutscene, completely destroy your rotation and can cause a victory to become a loss. Imo could probably do with another durability update, all ally/enemy damage being reduced. Random ally one shots are more annoying than enemies being spongy, and some enemies do need to be spongier. (Except for gweyr/kinu fights those can be stoopidly boring and annoying) It'd be nice to have some reasonably long, resource draining fights, maybe with more money to compensate. Then again, think they've said there'll be no superboss-y fights with stuff like the gods.

It's really annoying how, on every level, there's no "every hole/horse weiner's a goal" freedom, there's restricted power levels, and far too many characters need a kick in the head but PC is gaslit or unable to do so. You can't bang x *because*, y is constantly a prick to PC but *muh culture*, you will never be able to be on the same level as an augmented human paladin (??) bish whur. Step one needed to be making sure players had at least some reason to not commonly want a Berserk Eclipse, but apparently they thought perma cripple Griffith would make for a great mc

Dont you find its weird that random shmuck (player) knows how/able to seduce/tease enemies up to the boiling point? Ok, if its charmer class than its kinda have some sense, but for barbarian warrior or white mage aristocrat thats just dumb.
Cait is the only character that should be able to do it 'out of the box' SUPER EFFECTIVE since shes, you know, professional slut. All other characters, excluding demons and cultists probably, shouldnt be able to do it, at least as effective as it is currently.
